LSP_Ron
The title says it all. We've had this cat for 22 years, it was a long run for the old girl but we had to put here down this morning. We've been married only 6 months longer than we've had this cat. She was a big part of our family. We will miss her. Out2gtcha
Sorry to hear that Ron. My 4 legged kids are as close to human kids as I'll ever get and mean the world to me. I take one of their losses as hard as any family member passing LSP_Ron and monthebiff

ssculptor
I know the feeling.. My back yard has a cat cemetery.. At one time we had 11 of the cute little critters. They do not live forever unfortunately (neither do we for that matter). At first my wife became very attached to one particular cat. They would hang around together while my wife was doing things. When the cat got sick my wife spent lots of money taking her to the vets, but to no avail. When she died my wife was in tears. After that my wife stopped being extra friendly to any of them. She dd not want to be hurt like that again. Gradually my wife became allergic to them and after the last one passed away she said no more pets. By that time the kids had grown up and left home. So now it is just my wife and myself. And my son who moved back home. My daughter lives only 14 miles away and she has a cat and a three legged dog she got at the animal shelter. Such is life. ScottsGT
Sorry to hear that Ron. We had to have ours put down just over a year ago. Buddy was with us about 10 years, but liver failure took him. Poor guy was wasting away. Everyone wanted to go and and find a new kitten right away, I just wasn't ready. But just this past Wednesday I put a deposit on a 2 week old Maine Coon kitty. He'll be ready for pick up on the wife's birthday. Can't wait! LSP_Ron
Rick K
Been there multiple times. Very difficult indeed. A nice long life. You gave your cat a life most cats dream of. LSP_Ron
Wolf Buddee
That sucks Ron. I've been there a couple of times already with dogs. They become such an integral part of day to day life and it's tough to loose them. We have one dog now who's approaching 13 years old and every time he displays signs of any illness I dread the thought of having to go through the process of having to put him down. I really understand how hard it is. Hang in there man.......... dennismcc
I feel for you, we lost one of ours last year, we adopted two cats when we lived in Oz and fetched them back to the UK, I know that you should not have favourites but Sidney was the favourite. He was 17 when we had to have him put down, he was a real character and I miss him every day, as he used to help me repair motorbikes, do gardening and build models as well as helping the wife with cooking and housework, a real people cat. I dread losing the other one as since he has been on his own he has really blossomed and his character has really come out. Gigant
You have our sympathies Ron. We had moved into our present home in 1997 and had no cats at the time, and living in a rural area, we needed a good "yard cat" desperately, to keep down the various invading rats, mice, etc. One day in late winter/early spring 1998 a very well mannered young black and white cat we named Marvin adopted us. Immediately after accepting us feeding him, etc., he began to control the rodent population to the point I no longer had to keep adding Ortho pest control products to our normal shopping list. Then one day in March 2017, he came indoors and no longer wanted back out. He continued to stay indoors, and since it was cold and nasty out, I didn't blame him, but we could see he needed attention. We took him to the vet clinic, where they told us he was dying of kidney failure, so we had him "put to sleep", and his body cremated. We keep his ashes in a nice little wooden box in the big chest of drawers in our bedroom. I also dread the demise of our remaining indoors/outdoors older female cat as well.
