  1. I finished up this quickie build to pass the time over one of the rainiest summers I've seen in a very long while. Hobbycraft A-4E aggressor 'black 56'. Finished in Mr color and ak real color paints, mostly built straight from the box except for a cat 4 ejection seat, which is quite nice. Cheers
  2. Good morning all, I'm back at the Revell terminator phantom. I normally don't build in the summer months, so I'm back for the fall session. The legend cockpit seems to have changed slightly from earlier builds I've seen. Mainly, the sidewalls now have a sill. Having said that, I have spent many hours to this point getting the cockpit to fit in place. As you can see, I'm going with a mix of the legend set and cockpit parts. Reason for this is the 3d printed instruments are meant to fit the kit parts. Also, it seems the legend rear IP is the incorrect type for the Turkish terminators. I'm satisfied so far with the tub fit, but the sidewalls are being a real pain. I trimmed the existing sills, and have been filling/sanding to give it the seamless look. It's a lot of work, but I believe it'll be worth it once it's all come together. I have to fit the other side sidewalls, then I can start painting the pit up. I'm really looking forward to getting the Eduard seats together.
  3. Thanks Alain, The F-4E is slow right now. I don't model regularly during the summer months. However with all the rain we've been having, I might just as well sit at the bench. Cheers Greg
  4. Good day all! My first build thread hereon LSP. Bare with me as I'm not a particularly fast builder. Thanks to the help in my previous thread, I decided to use my Revell F-4G kit as the base for a turkish F-4E terminator. I fell for the beautiful tail artwork of the 70th anniversary NATO scheme. on advice of the member here, I ordered the legend cockpit set, babi models terminator 3d decals, phantom phreak decals, eduard brassin seats, which I have decided to use instad of the legend seats, and a gt resin correction nose. While I was waiting on my parts to arrive, I started assembling the rear fuselage sections and cleaning them up. The parts started arriving last week, so I've been slowly getting everything to start fitting before paint. I am having a bit of trouble getting the GT resin nose to sit well. It seems to be slightly bgger than the kit part. I have some basic cuts done, and an ok fit I can work with for now. Here are a few progress pics so far. The last few evenings have been spent cleaning and re-scribing the spine as well. It's coming but still a wats to go. Any advice on building this kit, I'm all ears. Cheers Greg Disregard the belly strap. I found out after I ordered it these airframes do not require it the eduard seat is just so nice compared to the legend one, it needs to be built for this
  5. One of my modeling buddies built one and loved it. If the fit is anything like this kit, you'll be very happy.
  6. Good Day all My latest build is complete. It's the GWH T-33a kit, built as a CT-133 (early) markings are from the belcher set, which is a Germany based aircraft from 1957. I built it mostly from the box. The only additions are seat belts, and reskit wheels, to depict the correct Canadian type. AK real colors, Vallejo and tamiya paints were used all around. I have to say, between this and the Kinetic CF-104, I've had a really enjoyable building season. If you get your hands on one of these, I highly recommend the build. For later Canadian birds, a naca duct, and air vent needs to be added to the 2 front access doors. The academy kit has these pieces already molded in. My next build will be Revell's large scale F-4e, and I will likely do a build thread. Really looking forward to that one. Hope you like it. Cheers!
  7. Hey Dave, I think some wires got crossed on our discussion. I'm starting with the Revell kit already, as I inherited it from my dads collection when he passed. Converting it to an EJ kai, as was my initial plan, seems more trouble than its worth, so if I decide to do an EJ in the future, I'll just get a tam kit. I decided on the Turkish F-4E because the Revell kit has slatted wings and the other E specific parts in the box like you mentioned. Plus its a beauty of a scheme. I ended up on the legend set because none of the 3D printed sets included sidewalls. I appreciate all your help regardless. Cheers!
  8. Thanks for everyone's reply's. After weighing all my options, I decided to go with the Turkish 70 years NATO scheme over a Japan one. I figure I'll spend less money ordering a tamiya EJ kit than all the extra things needed to convert the Revell kit. I've ordered a legend cockpit, gt belly strap, gt nose and the phantom phreaks decals. That will at least get me off to a good start. Cheers! PS, since I already have brassin seats I plan to use, the seats from the legend set are up for grabs whenever they arrive if someone wants them. happy to donate to the cause as I doubt I'll build another big phantom.
  9. I watched your build, which really gave me the push to do a Japanese phantom. After seeing the asking prices of the wolfpack set though, that is one detail I can likely live with out. Amazing build btw.
  10. That's wonderful! Thanks!
  11. A very valid point indeed. Truth be told I'm not a big phantom guy, so I would like to at least build something colorful to stand out. I was also Looking at the turkish Nato phantom. Slatted wing/colorful as heck. Might be a contender.
  12. That's exactly the kind of info i was after thanks! Perhaps it's a bit too much to convert this kit into a -EJ.
  13. So, I inherited a Revell F-4G kit from my fathers stash, and I am planning to build it in his memory. (he was very excited about this kit) My question, as I'm not a phantom aficionado, is, what would I need to replace to convert this into an RF-4ej? I had my eye on these decals from DMX: https://dxmdecals.com/shopping/ols/products/132-jasdf-rf-4ej-phantom-ii-501sq-last-year-2020-wo-stencil I was looking around and have at minimum decided on the GT 'E' nose correction, belly strap and exhausts. I'll likely go with 3d decals from someone for the pit, and dad already bought brassin seats so they're taken care of. Any other must haves for this kit? Thanks in advance
  14. Seriously gorgeous work. I followed from the beginning with great interest. I live a stones throw from CFB Greenwood, so I get to see them flying all the time. Amazing work with a truly difficult model. Cheers!
  15. Thank you! It certainly was a challange. The tbm will be my winter project. I'm very much looking forward to starting it!
