Special Hobby Westland Whirlwind Mk 1

Sweet!   Im not understanding why the molds seem to have the odd upper and lower square-ish parts on the fuselage where the canopy should be, and where the wings go

These are actually the « plugs Â» that will be matched by the other half of the mould, and prevent the openings to be filled by the injected styrene. Mold technology sometimes require some imagination to « see Â» the molded part from a half mold cavity ...

What's that yellow stuff on the moulds? Burnt releasing agent?

I would probably bet on traces of spark-erosion electrolyte ... unless, as they use short-run type of molds in a softer metal than steel, this is the release agent from pouring this metal on the master ...

As for the subject, one of the very few that would have me forget my « no-camo Â» choices ...:frantic:

Great, nice to see some progress! I will be up for one of these for sure! It's really good to see some *exotics* getting produced!

I guess SH will tackle the Typhoon and SeaFury after this bird hits the market!!

Wow, some really interesting subjects coming our way!

Cheers

Alan
