I like your mix ratios using the Tamiya paints. Looks spot on. Great progress and i must admit the A-1 looks much better in SEA camo.

Thanks Maxim,

Sometime just to get the right mix is a nightmare in any scheme..... and yes, it is much better in SEA camo.   :coolio:

Hi everyone,

here's another fun part, my clear coat dried enough so it was time for the decals.

and as you can see, it didn't took long, 12 decals in total...wow

Gonna let it dry for a day and will wipe it out tomorrow.

Hope you still have fun.

  • 2 weeks later...

Looking good. Excellent job with the tamiyas on the SEA scheme. Which gloss coat did you use? I find the tamiya XF colours tend to leave a grainy texture that I often have to rub down.

Thanks Tim,  Tamiya TS13 for my clear coat, straight from the can, 3 coats.

Also had the same problem with XF paint, and found out that my pressure was too high

and not enough diluted, the paint was almost dried on contact.....

Now, no more than 10PSI with a mix of 60/40 paint / thinner.

Looks like the wash needs a drop of dishwashing liquid to break that surface tension.

Yeap, you're right, I still run on Flory's 1st batch of wash, did bought a lot when it first came out...... :mental:

and mine need more than a few drop..... I think I'll get new one. :hmmm:

Here's my little update...... and a reminder...................

NEVER USE SHARPIE BEFORE PAINTING.....

Too often I don't follow exactly instruction manual and cut corner...

I usually keep the pylon at the end to paint them and do the wash and so on....

and put them on my wing only once my weathering and finish coat is done, but not this time and don't know why....&*%?$(_    :BANGHEAD2:

Did glue them on long before the paint and with all the handling, did broke some.

So to remember their position, I wrote their numbers.... with A SHARPIE....

took them off, finish the clear, the weathering (on the model) and put them back to find this 3 days later.

It came out true the paint like a spot on the nose...... it took 3 coat to finally hide it.

So here's another teaser, the wash is done not too heavy, will probably ad some post shading to it,

exhaust stain, wire and white and red on my prop.

Doing the load and painting the pilot....

Hope you like it, happy modelling and have fun.
