I just found one review of the Trumpeter kit which points out a few things that aren't best, but what makes it 'god-awful' in your eyes?  I found a 1/24 kit...  looked kinda scary.

as promised, I checked and the Trumpeter has indeed the P-36/H-75 elevators. You will find here plans comparing them:

I have the Craftworks kit as well and the shapes look better even if, as Iain kit showed it, the Chinese kit LOOKS like an early P-40. Moreover, that resin kit is a true dog to build. I guess that comparing pictures, plans and the Trumpeter, Craftworks and later Hasegawa P-40 kits is probably the best way to get the final word on that.

Hi Thierry, I took the kit parts (Hstab and elevator taped together) and

laid it on his drawing (his own with no reference) and they are veerrrry

close, as was the Detail & Scale drawing comparison.
