spyrosjzmichos
Hi all! Been some time since the last update as I was busy with moving to a new house and also preparations for an upcoming surgery. But managed to make some progress with the fuselage, undercarriage and engine. The central lower fuselage/wing section was finally glued to the main fuselage with no fuss. Fit was perfect and no filler was required. Next step was to work on the undercarriage. Parts were quite delicate and required lots of care to put eveything together without snapping anything. I also decided to change the kit's wheels with Baraccuda's resin set. Engine to follow in next post. Shaka HI, Gazzas and Tolga ULGUR
spyrosjzmichos
And here's some initial work done on the engine. It's quite a complex little build by itself both in terms of assembly as well as painting. I think I spent as much time in assembling as in masking to paint. I also ordered Baraccuda's engine set to replace some kit parts. I also tried to depict the exhausts after heavy use by going after a burned and rusted look. Done with pigments over a base coat of Alclad engine exhaust. Gazzas, Tomcat14, AlexM and 1 other
AlexM
Nice, wheels and wheel bays look great. I have the same kit, but didn't dare to start it yet. Maybe the engine could benefit from some dark wash to pronounce the cooling fins spyrosjzmichos

Maybe the engine could benefit from some dark wash to pronounce the cooling fins Thanks Mark! The kit has been a joy so far! I really hope you starts your soon! You won't regret it! I only did the basic painting on the engine block so will be spending the weekend weathering it. Edited June 2, 2017 by spyrosjzmichos
spyrosjzmichos
That looks great so far!! If I may add a small observation - a bit less "rust" on the exhaust pipes. Take some pencil graphite and give them a good scrubbing with it and they'll look perfect! They're made of high temperature steel, and when flown regularly they really don't get rusty red looking. Thanks Jennings! I'll follow your suggestion and give it a try!
spyrosjzmichos
Hi all! With the surgery over I'm getting plenty of time to work on the Corsair. I was able to finish most of the engine (still waiting on the Barracuda set to call it done) and undercarriage and move on to finalising the airframe. The engine is almost done. I was initially planning to do this OTB but couldn't drill small enough holes on the ignition harness for the wires. I decided to order the Barracuda set which comes with predrilled holes. And on the airframe! Shaka HI and Gazzas
spyrosjzmichos
And here's the airframe progress so far. Eager pilot Bob is eager to fly! My second attempt on a figure this one is from Tamiya. Thanks for checking! Gazzas, Doctorgaz, Tolga ULGUR and 1 other

Wolf Buddee
Coming along very nicely indeed Spyros! The engine looks great and you'll find that the BarracudaCast ignition ring is the correct style for the early Corsair. Tamiya supplies the later type not typically used on the Birdcage. Cheers, Wolf spyrosjzmichos
