Been a bit since I was truly active and trying to determine if photobucket is  the only way to upload pics.  It crashes about every two minutes and I switched over to Flickr for all my other stuff.  Any tips are appreciated

I don't think Flickr can host photos on LSP like Photobucket?

"First, shalt thou take out the Holy pin. Then, shalt thou count to three - no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shall thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that then thou shalt proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number is reached, then lobbeth thou thy Holy hand grenade of Antioch towards thy foe who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it. Amen"

I was a  heavy Photobucket user for years, and had to up my plan or I ran out of monthly bandwidth, which was fine with me. At one time they were the best online photo hosting service, but over the last year or so they've gotten into selling pictures, photobooks, etc, and just didn't pay enough attention to their main function: Hosting pictures. The site crashed every so often, Uploading even with their bulk loader took longer and longer, till it became a crap shoot to upload pictures. Google searches yeilded necessary backdoor (through your Library) when the infamous loop started, and you could never get to actually uploading. Fortunately for us, I never had nor heard of anyone not having their direct picture links work all the time.

Finally, I had enough. I did a few Google searches, and checked out about 6 other hosting services. Most seem to just let you use a link for a picture back to  their site, rather then a direct link that allows your pictures to be seen for example here, rather then a link to click on.  Then I struck Gold. I found ImageShack (one word). OMG, I was in heaven. The same free monthly bandwidth and storage as Photobucket, but the 1st paid tier for heavy users like me was just a dollar more. So I signed on but left my Photobucket account active so past pictures are still available to those looking at old threads. What I found is that their upload speeds are lightning fast no matter how many pictures I uploaded at one time. The site is super easy to navigate, with absolutely no issues to date. Best service I've ever had period.

I'm pretty sure that Flickr just allows you to paste a link for the picture which directs them back to the Flickr site for viewing.

When I moved to ImageShack, I just left my existing photobucket account with the pictures there. It's been more then a year since the switch, and no issues or problems with seeing any of my photobucket posted pictures. Just don't close your account, and you'll never have a problem.

I mainly use Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive for uploading pictures. Pretty easy. You just have to use the public link to that image and tadaaa its shown directly here :goodjob:.

cheers Chris

Flickr is fine, most of my images such as the Wessex I post on here are on Flickr....

See

31489758183_34f0802fa7_z.jpgRapide by Tony Taylor, on Flickr

Click on the arrow to the right of the picture, select the BBcode, pick the size you want copy the link then paste it directly into the thread...job done as above.

31489758183_34f0802fa7_z.jpg

second option when you post the link is to delete everything after .JPG[/img] and everything before [img] and you get the image as above which does not link back to Flickr as the top image does when you click on it, where you can view larger sizes..

I lean toward SmugMug. Flawless from my point of view.

The bottom line is, Photobucket is probably the *worst* choice you can make.
