1/48 Eduard Fw190 A-8/ R-2 "Yellow 8"

I finished this one up in the fall of 2013 and have recently updated the photos to reflect the recently acquired knowlege of how to operate my camera. I'll have to say that despite the severe warpage issues I had with the wings and fuselage, this Eduard kit was a joy to build. Depicted here is "Yellow 8" of II JG 4 in September of 1944. It was piloted by Friedrich-Karl Frank and was shot down 11 Sept 1944 in a fierce air battle over the Ore Mountains. Frank managed to bail out and the plane became a "lawn dart". Pieces of the plane were dug out of the ground fairly recently and some managed to find their way into the Royal Class Fw190 A-8/ R2 kit from Eduard which is what this kit is.

I started building this kit many years ago, got hung up on the radial engine and finally just put it all away.  I have a second kit in my stash I may do some day, but yours looks terrific - great application of all of that detail!

Chris

You outta get it back out Chris. I ran a GB over at FSM 4 years ago and had alot of folks building these Eduard kits at the time and I have plenty of good info and things to watch out for on them. I, for one, would be interested in seeing another one built.

Very nice, Joe. Hard to go wrong with a '190.

Thanks Kevin and you aint a lyin' there! I do looooooooooove me some 190's. :D

Stunning.

Thanks for the good comments Gerhard.

You did a great job on a ***** of a kit.

I did one too some years ago, complete with extra Eduard resin goodies.

Just took forever to wrangle all the main pieces so that they would fit together.  Those Eduard 1/48 FW-190s have defeated many a modeler, but not you!

Nice work!  It just looks great!

I love the look of the FW 190 A models all opened up like that.

Great build! I have the Eduard Jg 54 editions in my stash, but after reading all the bad press on the engine and overall construction of these, I put them low on the to do list.

But after seeing what a great model it is once finished, I might have to rethink.

I did get the Quickboost A5 engine cowl for my " Emil"Bully"Lange" build as I want to keep the clean lines of the Fw for that build.

Thanks Ohm-men. Once you get all the tricks down they're not too bad to build.

Great looking Wurger, Joe!  Engine and guns are very well done!

Thanks Thunnus.
