As a result of this most useful thread, I've switched all my hosting to Flickr.

It was very easy. I had an account from years back, but just didn't use it. So I downloaded the Flickr app to my Android phone, popped in a memory card with my photos on, and it automatically synced all 2,800 of them to my Flickr account. Took a few hours though.

So now I have auto-sync enable, so all my future photo's are automatically backed up to Flickr. So I just take a photo, log onto Flickr, find the photo & copy the link.

No more irritating problems with Photobucket, no more relentless ads! No need to pay for reasonable storage, as 1TB is more than I'll ever need.

Flickr is a smoothly oiled machine compared to Photobucket, which feels like a clunky wind-up in comparison.

"First, shalt thou take out the Holy pin. Then, shalt thou count to three - no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shall thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that then thou shalt proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number is reached, then lobbeth thou thy Holy hand grenade of Antioch towards thy foe who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it. Amen"

I have used Flickr for years, and I swear by it, none of this expired crap where your images disappear on a thread with a little PB logo. That said, I will always use Flickr, even though I'm slowly moving over to https://radleighbush...press.com/blog/ , but if you don't want to set your own up, Flickr, Flickr, Flickr, Flickr... all day long.

While I no longer use Photobucket, the only time your pictures disappear and you get that PB pop up instead, is if you delete them, you go over your Bandwidth for the month with the basic free account, or you close your account. I'm on ImageShack now, and like I said, all my pictures on PB still appear when I check old threads.

Joel, I am with 1and1.co.uk, but there are thoudands of similar outfits. Try your mobile phone or cable tv supplier for example.....

My Father told me two things would happen as I got older.
I can't remember either of them....

I vote for postimage.io when it comes to sharing on forums.
Otherwise Flickr is to me the best photo hosting opt.

^^This.
"gut feeling"
Gastro-interologists agree the human gut contains no rational thoughts. What it is full of is pretty well known.

I just ditched Photobucket, except I have something like 2000 pictures on my account. I now upload with Imgur....so much easier and quicker.

Just leave your pictures on Photobucket, and don't close your account. There really isn't any reason to even if you were paying for the service as I was. All my old pictures in previous build threads are still showing up.

Yeh I was going to transfer them over, but then it would kill all my threads on the forums.

Brad.

  Exactly.

While the issue with Photobucket was in uploading, there never seemed to be any issues with direct links as far as I can tell. So why go through the massive effort to move them? As long as you don't delete them, you won't have any issues.
