Hey guys. Thanks!

G'day everyone.

Please forgive this thread, all about me. (not really)

As many know, I've been a bit on the er, mad side? for a while. It now seems that the fog caused by the huge amount of chemicals that have passed through my body over 37 months, are finally clearing out. As a result, my ability to think has improved. Also my emotional control is greater.

Many of you here have unselfishly supported and helped me through this rather difficult time. This is something I value highly and will never forget.

You may have noticed I have not posted as often as I had been. I recognised I was at times speaking with complete strangers as if they were good mates. Even making jokes that may appear to have been at the other's expense. Joking in this way is something usual amongst my mates. For example; last week a mate who is a great drummer (He was supposed to do the last AC/DC tour. Obligations ruined that.) was hitting a pad in the drum shop. I walked in and said "Not bad. Keep going, you'll get there." and we all laughed. We know each other.

I shouldn't do that here. Nobody can see the smile and wink or hear the funny voice something like that is delivered with.

So I decided to step back. Come back when in better form. As it were.

What I will always remember, is that on days that were really unpleasant, I could come in here. Talk about models or tell jokes and have some company. My illness had robbed me of that.

The admin staff have been nothing but supportive. My personal LSP experience has been exceptional.

I have been rather selfishly running around this site, peeking into threads, watching posted videos and stealing as much information as I could. Using the old musical addedge, "Good musicians borrow, great musicians steal." :)

I've been a veritable LSP pickpocket!

I've derived so much inspiration from all of you. Thank you.

On a personal level I have had some great things happen. My nephew has in one week won a prestigious film directing award and become a father! Baby girl. I have reclaimed about 30% sensation in my hands. As I just told Harv, I am able to feel the brush in my fingers! :o

I recently set myself a test to see if my brain could focus. So I pushed everything aside and began a Tony. I gave myself a month in which to complete it. I may make the deadline. When this is complete I then plan to sit and really build a model. From start to finish. John has been a big inspiration in this regard.

There're too many here to name individually, but you know who you are. Were I to number just a few of the positive elements I discovered here, words used would be along the lines of company, fellowship, mateship, knowledge, inspiration, direction, care, empathy, and so much more. And perhaps the greatest of all, patience.

You have been so patient with me. I am so very grateful. After all, you've been putting up with a flipping nutcase! :D

Yours sincerely. Dale. :)

Dale ...

Everyone's weird in their own way ... I certainly know I am ...

Having a joke WITH someone is very different to having a joke AT someone ...

(you'll always see me challenge people when that happens!!)

... and being able to laugh at our own situations helps - that's a real indicator of a good sense of humour.

I think we've all understood where you're coming from for the most part mate!

... and although I'm not sure what you've "stolen" from here ... I DO see what you've given - which is actually quite a lot - including smiles and laughter.

Rog :)

Welcome back, been away for a couple of weeks too and was wondering where you were on catching up with posts.

Cool your mate was considered for AC/DC, saw them on the last tour, was supposed to be going seeing Iron Maiden on Tuesday but not well enough for that yet, have Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow June 25th and I'm focusing to get fitter for that.

Look fwd to seeing your Tony, been thinking of starting mine.

Me for one, am glad you stumbled on here. You are held in high regard around here Dale.....Harv

Cheers mate.

You remind me of one of my favourite drummers. (I tricked him into a short private lesson. ;) ). This bloke was known for, aside from his musical talent, being a really nice bloke. When people met him, they just liked him.

Glad we met. :)

Dale, I think you've given far more than you've taken.

Ha! Another one fooled. He he he he "cough argh er cough splutter!!!!" ;)

Cheers mate. :)

Indeed, the world is a strange place. I tend to shrug it off these days. I'm not Atlas.

Back at cha! :)

Well you'll be happy to know I modeled all day, working on the one kit. That Tony. I noticed that after glueing, one of the wing guns must have succumbed to gravity and is at a different angle to the other. I began to wonder what to do. Then simply decided it was in need of a quick fix by the ground crew. :)

Completion is this model's only task. It's even going into Japanese attire. Although the thought of painting it like a Battle of Britain yellow nosed 109 sprang to mind....

The Tony looks like a weird blend of spitfire and hurricane with a 109 engine. :)

And as for coffee, yesterday I managed to get 2 kilos of Vittoria coffee for just $33.00!!!! :o

I'm sorted. :)

Once I've completed the Tony, I will then set about building a decent model. All the work I've been doing over the past year was just a replica of my drumming education method. As a result I have treated the kits like drum books. Once one understands the concept, there's no need to perform every single exercise. That's why I bought so many 109's. Simply for the sameness.

The first serious attempt is going to be an American aircraft. This surprised me. I've got it all planned out and own all the AM and decals and paints I will need. I am armed with a photograph of the actual aircraft. One thing I learned yesterday was when building this kit, follow the instructions. ;)

Cheers mate. :)

I for one love posts telling great news :)

Lothar

That's great news mate! :D

BTW. That charity is helping me both tomorrow and Tuesday with my hospital appointments. You're a legend! :)

Cheers mate. :)

Thanks mate.

I hope you are well?

My mate would have been my choice. Angus flew down here to meet him but often things don't go as planned.

A couple of my mates hung with Nicko when Maiden toured here last. He's just very cool. No big head.

If you go to 1:00 in this clip, you'll see for yourself. He's a real character.

Cheers mate. :)

EDIT:

I forgot to mention something. If you're thinking about the Tony, mate, it's an awesome kit. All you need really is a harness. Even the kit tires are flattened. The cockpit if fantastic. The fit is very good. I'm blown away by it to be honest.

The same goes with the Tojo. I am displeased with mine simply because I am very unhappy with the Gunze metals. I should have used Alclad. I plan to strip it and re-paint it. Just not right now.

Both kits are superb.  :goodjob:

Thanks mate, in a lot of pain this morning while waiting for my pain killer medication to kick in, but comfortable enough ... you'll see what happened to me when you get a chance to catch up with the threads :)

Yep Nicko is a superb drummer, not too disappointed about missing Maiden as I've seen them live 3 times before in the past.

Thanks for advice on the Tony, have a soft spot for WW2 Japanese fighters and recently finished my Hasegawa Raiden that I most post up on the site soon ... a superb kit and enjoyable build.

Good to see you back and full of enthusiasm again.

Cheers Gazza! :)

SB. Mate, very sad about the pain. I hope it eases off soon.

I screwed my Raiden by working on it while not in a great space with my brain. Like when I splattered black primer all over the George. I doubt I'd have that problem now. However, mustn't fall into the trap of overconfidence.

I may be able to fix mine. The mistake has provided an opportunity to fix it. So it patiently sits aside waiting for when I am ready.

I bought so much tupperware everything is in it's own little container. I need not worry I'll lost parts. My home is party central. Sadly, tupperware party central. :)

If you're in the UK we may meet when I go on that holiday my mate wants to take me on. I'll let people know when I am going to visit. It'd be nice to meet some of my LSP mates while travelling around.

It'd be cool to meet many of the others living in North America. The trouble with places like the States or Canada is that like Australia, they're so large.

It will also be nice to simply meet people while being able to think. I've not been able to read a book in 4 years. That is something I really miss. Modeling is (I reckon at least) really helping me. When I began modeling I could not sign my name. It's helped me regain loads of lost control. It helped me focus

That idea makes me think the god Vulcan is the god of modeling. :D

I should build an Enterprise starship model. :)
