Thanks guys. :)

The George has also had some work done on it today. It's should be ready to paint soon. Happily its undercarriage is complete. It's funny, the cowling black on the Tojo looks rough. Not so much in real life but it will be sanded smooth. All the control surfaces are IJA grey/green.

I've had a busy morning. Worked on all three.

Hi Paul.

Thanks mate.

I got drunk on sherry when I was about 12. fell off my bike and everything. Haven't touched it since.

Hey, while I've got you guys, I need a question answered.

I have been trying mr. Surfacer 500 as Clunk suggested. He said to simply wipe of the excess with a cotton bud. I cannot stop the bud clearing out the crevice.

What is the correct method?

I am stuck on this bit with George. That stupid join near the tailplane.

Thanks. :)

Morning Dale,

Think you'd get a better result if you treat it like tile grout!

Go across the seam at an angle, say 30% - 45%.

While you will lift a little from the seam on one edge you'll be pulling filler in from the other, give it a go.......AND report back!

Have a good 'un my mate,

Paul

Edit because of predictive text, Grrr!!!

This might seem obvious, but just in case, Dale: make sure the cotton bud you're using for clean up has been moistened with a suitable thinner. Mr. Color Thinner (Levelling or not) is ideal, but you can get away with some forms of alcohol, and even generic lacquer thinner, as long as you use it judiciously. Also, even though it takes longer, I tend to get more reliable results by waiting for the application Mr. Surfacer to dry fully. It's much more resistant to being pulled out of the seam that way. But the main cause of your problem is usually that the clean-up tool is too dry.

looks good for me keep going

Mark

Thanks Mark.

I put another gloss coat on the upper surfaces. I'll let them sit for a while.

It's a real shame I damaged my Iwata. All this work is being done using the Sparmax. The mottle was hard. I think it'd be easier using the Iwata.

Oh well. :)

Next week I'll get the part. $40.00! :o

The 109 looks really nice, Dale. The Tojo looks to have a nice weathered NMF finish, but I  think I need close ups to see what you don't like.

Not sure about the gloss, looks the same to me, but again it's probably more visible in person to determine the quality of the gloss and/or application.

Keep going!
