marauderdriver
This is going to be spectacular! I think this paint job looks really great on the Raiden. Thank You Alain, After looking for photos of the wartime Raiden I discovered more pics of this aircraft then the others. Taking a little time to decide which way to go, the more I leaned to this. What finally did it was I found a pic of a N1K2 George in the same scheme, Now I know how I'll paint the George in the future. Cheers jack mpk
marauderdriver
Thanks Mike, I wanted to keep the foil away, cause I would have foiled this one. jack mpk
marauderdriver
Well this has been an adventure to get the red stripes on the rudder. I have done these rudder stripes a dozen times with no problem but not this time. I measured twice and cut 3 times.....that didn't work... started to use blank paper....spent 3 hours getting frustrated. After a snack-break I realized that I have "Touch-Screen" on the laptop Measured the rudder, marked it , put it to the screen and fit the photo to my ruler and measured. Learned something that I didn't know...the white stripes are wider then the red mpk, MikeC and BradG

Cheers jack Jack, If that picture of the George is "S 9", it's the N1K1 (mid wing), not the N1K2 (low wing). The old Revell/Takara George kit had these decals in it: Also, Woodland Scenics makes miniature dry transfer lettering that might be suitable for what you want to do with the Jack. If you have a model railroad shop nearby, you might be able to get a look and see if they're small enough. https://www.amazon.com/Woodland-Scenics-Railroad-Gothic-Letters/dp/B000BRJCEM/ref=pd_bxgy_229_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000BRJCEM&pd_rd_r=2HQJ43SV9F2KCVQG1H9N&pd_rd_w=bhNJx&pd_rd_wg=g5CfC&psc=1&refRID=2HQJ43SV9F2KCVQG1H9N Note that the lettering on the port side of the rudder is different than what's on the starboard - at least according to Takara. marauderdriver, Shaka HI, BradG and 1 other
dodgem37
Nice going. Rubbing over the color demarcation lines with a clean cotton bud has been known to smooth out the edge-work a bit. Sincerely, Mark mpk and marauderdriver

Hi Bill...Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't look hard enough at S9 to see it was a -1. Takara is correct on the rudder difference. Thanks for the Woodlands tip though I have not had a lot of luck with dry-transfers, I may try drawing the markings or leaving it blank if that doesn't work....time will tell......jack Nice going. Rubbing over the color demarcation lines with a clean cotton bud has been known to smooth out the edge-work a bit. Sincerely, Mark Thank You Mark, Yes I'll give them a rub-down after they get some time to dry. Nothing like turning the white stripes pink if done to soon.....jack mpk
Bill_S
I wonder if applying dry transfers to clear decal film would work... mpk
marauderdriver
That is a good question Bill. Spent 2 play-off games tweaking the fit if the wings but worth the time.
