USAF T-33A

On another matter, the Caracal decals arrived today and they're all for ADC Grey schemes!! Rats, I wanted natural metal. I don't know how many of the markings were used in the 50's/60's but I may be able to use them, at least the national markings and lettering is in the correct shade of blue and I have some fin serials - but no fuselage buzz numbers. I am also wondering how useful the other markings in the P-80 kit may be for a T-33?

The search goes on!

Only some of the markings on that sheet will be usable to you. At the time I only had artwork for  1970-1980's era ANG markings, and that is what I released. I have since prepared artwork for earlier T-33's and have released a couple very successful sets in 1/48 scale.

According to my records, I sold more than 230 copies of this sheet. It is about to be sold out, and I plan to release another 1/32 scale T-33 sheet with earlier markings later in the year. Some of the schemes I have done in 1/48 scale could give you an idea on what to expect:

Well I have to say that I like the 81st TFW markings on 119 - it looks like all the others on that sheet are based on ADC gray? On 123 all are pretty interesting but aren't the buzz numbers huge - and quite correctly so, obviously! I read last night that just about all P-80 squadrons in Korea had at least one T-33 as a hack and I assume they would have the same markings as the P-80's, hence my thoughts about the decals in the P-80 kit.

Yeh, I think you should should make an effort and include an RT-33 as well to keep Harv happy if they are so underrepresented!

But I do appreciate that it would be much easier to upscale some of the existing artwork, together with the common markings and if you are going to be selling a relatively small number then I appreciate that both time and cost must be major consideration. Might be worthwhile conducting a poll to see what markings the members of LSP can come up with? It might also be a good idea to include a full range of buzz numbers and letters plus serial numbers and then TAC and squadron badges for those who want to make an airframe that means something to them but may otherwise not be that much of a looker? If the sizes also fit the P-80 then that might cover two bases?

Just a thought.......

Thanks for your inputs - I will keep them in mind. The Lockheed-style buzz numbers would indeed work on both some P-80s and T-33s, but I doubt including a full range would make sense financially in this scale. I will think about it, though.
