Masking Aires F-16 Block 50 Exhaust Nozzle

Hey guys,

 

Building the Tamiya 1/32 F-16 Block 50 and I'm using the Aires Exhaust nozzle. I'm trying(unsuccessfully thus far) to mask the nozzles so I can get that distinctive two tone on the petals. Hand painting is definitely not my strong suit so wanting to AB it. Can someone share a tip on how they do this. Is there possibly a mask out there?

No masks that I'm aware of.

These are for my 1/18th scale Tomcat but, same principal, lot's of masking unfortunately.

That's it. It seems long, but it's not that long. Less than 30 minutes to mask a whole exhaust.

Just take your tamiya 6mm tape, a pair of cisors, and cut small lenghts of tape, that you then cut in half width. Apply. cut the excess. Paint. Done.

If you can mask a windscreen, you know how to mask an exhaust, and it's way faster and easier.

If it can help, here is an old picture of my Aires F-16 exhaust. Sorry for the quality, it was taken back in 2010. (note that the masking pattern is slightly wrong)

 Hi Wade,

I used a mix of Alclad Pale Burnt Metal and some Duraluminum. The black areas I believe were Model Master Flat Black.
