TBF-1C Trumpeter 1/32

Very nice work Dirk!

I saw a build that lightly covered the finished turret with normal kitchen saran-wrap (clear cling plastic) to mask it during final assembly - then after the model is all painted up you just have to gently lift off the clear cling plastic.

Looking forward to more updates!

Cheers

Terrific work on the turret cupola, Dirk! Did you use a commercial mask set for it?

Kev

Masking set from Eduard. If it were just straight lines I would have done it without. But in this case with all those curves, that set was very useful.

Thanks Alan. That's an interesting tip.

Brilliant work Dirk!

I also went for the mask set from Eduard, way to fiddly to mask without them, my new favourite item.

Did you polish the turret prior to paint?

Thanks again for posting.

Dirk, what polishing method for canopies do you use?

With your TBF and Pete's TBD we are all being spoilt with sublime builds.......

Dirk I'm also in for hearing how you polish the canopies. Great work so far. Avenger us one of my favorites and I'd love to build this Trumpy kit someday

I am using the Tamiya stuff together with a polisher (?). Around 5000 rpm.

Since I am waiting for the rivets from Archer, the progress on the Avenger will pause (maybe 2 or 3 weeks).

On the resin decal rivets Check

micro-mark's website they have sheets in multiple scales and a better cost ratio

Thanks. 'going to check them. Although Archer offered me a discount.

Loving what you are doing here, if I am not too late the floors of 2 very early production TBF-1's I saw were bronze green overall.

Keep up the good excellent work, I am taking lots of notes!

Cheers

Good goes Dirke. Which prototype was chosen?

Now I'm doing the same thing. A small problem is there is no instruction. Some of the sheets found on the Internet. The rest I collect intuitively. A sheet of instruction is very necessary for assembling the engine and the sheet for assembling the pilot's seat.

Good luck.
