Which 1/32 Kit and AM is Best for This Bird?

Either way, I'm not looking to do major surgery.  For me, trying to get the surface details close to correct without stuffing it up will be major work.  For the first time, I'm considering getting a rivet tool.  Gonna have to find out the details for the belly tank shackles, too since this is a "C" apparently.

The kit has also some problems of shapes. I did not mention them in my tweak list as I never allocated the time to compare different kits to identify why I had the strange feeling something was wrong with the nose and its relationship with the wings and fuselage shapes. I am sure there is a problem somewhere but where...? Brad should know.

Unfortunately it's resin.  Not sure how the foil cement will play with resin.

Actually for this build (Oooh, Shiny!!) the Craftworks all resin kit might be a benefit unless you only do foil.

I tested the Krylon Looking Glass spray on bare resin knowing resin has tolerance to such solvents

Result was mirror like. You can also spray it into a cup and brush it on like Alclad II.

CMK did a cockpit set for the Trumpeter kit as well, how good it is I don't know though.

Here's a discussion on the various resin sets.

Sounds like a closed cockpit canopy build for sure for my 1/32 HobbyCraft/Trumpeter P-40 kit.

I've done surgery on pilot figures before, but one I found for this one looks about $25.00. for openers, and he doesn't come segmented/positionable.

BTW, Trumpeter kits are not for beginners.

But then I also built Revell's 1/40 Skyraider when it came out in 1959, and I have yet to see a Trumpeter kit more complex then that one with its' operating, rotating redirecting landing gear, dive brakes, folding wings, etc.

As with my HobbyCraft/Trumpeter 1/32 Wildcat, or any other higher parts-count kit, the key is organization, planning, and the patience to try new products.

That's an interesting looking paint.  Might be interesting to see what kind of results can be obtained once decanted.  I've never been very confident of working on small things with spray cans.   I'll mostly stick to foil as it's aluminum and not chrome or silver.  After all, I've invested a lot of time in learning how to foil effectively...   And I love my foiled models.  They catch my eye every time I walk past...

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I rather enjoyed the Trumpeter P-40 - changed the 'pit and a few minor tweaks and it looks OK.

It's closer to a P-40 than, say, a newish tool Revell Spitfire IIa is to a Spitfire IIa IMHO - which I've also built.
