Here I present my second Viking in progress.  Also from Italeri, but the ES-3A Shadow kit.

I already reached the stage where I am not far away from using primer. Therefore these following pictures try to give you a wip-overview what has been done already. All panel lines were redone, because the ones from Italeri are too wide and deep. The radar dome is cut away and will be displayed open. The wings and the fin will be folded. To get a view on the radio operator workplace I cut open the top ejection seat exit. It can be replaced so that its closed. The electronic bay (where normaly the bomb bay is, will be equiped with details.

To achieve this project I needed to use some aftermarket parts:

4804 S-3B Viking bomb bay, wheels bays from Goffy Model

4803 S-3B Viking cockpit, electronic bays, crew door from Goffy Model

Decals Aeromaster 48-551

48697 S-3 Bomb bay from Eduard

48696 S-3 exterior from Eduard

48156 S-3B detail set from Eduard

48698 S-3 undercarriage from Eduard

48066 S-3 Wing and fin folds from Paragon

WP48130 S-3B Viking OIF Update set from Wolfpack

R033 Weighted wheels from Royal Resin (-> I might switch to 3D printed ones)

48006 S-3 Viking landing gear from SAC

26001 A-10 Detailset from Italeri (-> here I just need the engine)

For the diorama I got some stuff too. But still not decided what to use.

I will just present the photos here. I hope they are self-explaining. If not, feel free to ask.

Next steps now editing details to the undercarriage, finishing the electronic bays and primer.

Wow! Spectacular.

Remember going to Upper Heyford to photograph EF-111As and ended up with some nice, grey, external pics.

I showed the PAO the stuff I had from Grumman and that made them even more nervous! The next month some dude got all the internals and cockpit photos, just playing thick.

Lesson to self: sometimes playing thick has its benefits!
