How to get a correct F-4F from the Revell kit?

Hi guys, what stuff is needed to build a correct shaped F-4F (in Norm 72 camo, 1982) from the Revell kit?

cockpit, nose, intakes etc. (I know they are wrong)

I do not want to throw it away because I'm fond of it...

Have a look at my old tweak list. The only thing for which there is no good aftermarket option is the cockpit. However the IP from the kits are OK and mixing them with aftermarket parts is probably the best idea.

thanks Thierry, yes I've read your old tweak list many months ago. But who makes aftermarket resin nose for this kit? I remembered Sierra Hotel nose but it is OOP

GT Resin offers a corrected nose for the Revell kit, I bought one at the 2017 Nats.  It also comes with short and long gun muzzles

 

AMS resin Also has a corrected nose, you can get it at Sprue Brothers.

Not sure if it's mentioned, but the horrible squashed looking Revell canopy needs replaced too.

 

There are sellers on eBay who sell Tamiya sprues.

They might not have what you want immediately, but I've found that messaging them will often produce results within a few weeks.

 

I'm surprised there are no correctly shaped vac replacements, considering every issue of the basic kit is affected.

I'd venture that all the Tamiya canopies are the same, as they use a sprue lettering system, and there're no differences on the real thing (apart from the frameless windscreen fitted to a few).

 

I can't help with Tamiya Europe, though I recall it said that Tamiya USA and Japan will sell sprues individually. As I mentioned there are a few sellers on eBay who I've found to be very reliable and helpful (anyone with a 99% or above rating, basically).

for instance has the canopy frames, so it may be worth messaging the seller to ask if he can get the clear parts for you as well.

That's what I did for my Tomcat, and had it within a month..

Getting the clear parts will not solve the issue as you still need the canopy edges that are on another sprue and the sills and gaskets dimensions are not totally identical... :-(

If you pose the canopy open, it isn't as obvious. Other things like the low cockpit floor, nose, skinny nose gear, and intakes are more glaring IMHO.
