DeanKB
A couple.......its a major piece of work to get just one over the line. Lots of work to do but well worth it. Regards. Andy Couldn't agree more. One is a major, major project that takes months. Worth it, but I need a rest after finishing mine.
AlexM
Hi Andy, I'd go with the AIMS engines or - as Matt said - use the Revell engine. As nice as the Eduard one is, most detail will be hardly visible inside the cowlings and with the propellers mounted. Cheers Alex monthebiff
monthebiff
Why not try the plastic engine from the Revell 190? If you're replacing it with the resin one, you can use the plastic for the 188? Matt Great idea Matt, never thought of that one.!! Regards. Andy

Cheers Alex Hi Alex, Even if the Eduard engine fitted I don't think I would use as I would need two of these at around £35.00 a pop. Think I have figured what to do now. Regards. monthebiff
Spent some more time today looking at what to do with the engines and as Matt and Alex suggested I decided to test fit the Revell BMW into the AIMS cowl to see how it would look. And it fits like a glove, much better than the resin castings to be honest. The detail on the Revell parts is really good so I contacted Revell today for a new sprue holding the parts I need for the second engine so hopefully they will come good. If not I will try and pick up a complete F-8 on ebay as they are going pretty cheaply by the looks of it. Regards. scvrobeson
Hey, it worked! Looks great on the fit, and the plastic detail is really nice. Sadly, it'll be somewhat hidden in those cowlings Matt monthebiff

monthebiff
Pretty happy as I have all of the main wing and wheel well conversion work done now with the wheel wells about ready for some paint. Some work is needed on the upper joint but all in all very happy with the fit. My plan is to sort the gaps and then paint the wheel wells and then re-scribe each wing. Regards. Chek
Good looking work so far Andy. One suggestion I'd offer is to scribe a light line ( a later wash will help emphasise it) under the exhaust stack outlets to make them look better separated from the cowl skin. monthebiff
