TimW
I finally started an F2A-3 a week or so ago and, making allowances for work/family demands, have actually managed to get quite a bit of the cockpit/interior done. Now if only I can manage some decent pictures to post. This one will be done up in VMF-221 markings, as provided with the kit. The grand plan is to have this one "on the ground" on a small diorama base of compressed coral or whatever it was Midway had. I have the nifty new Ultracast Navy aviator figure, too. Tim W. TimW
Here's the firewall, in progress. Nothing fancy, just Model Master Zinc Chromate with a touch of yellow and some aluminum dry brushing (since these aircraft were USN cast offs anyway. Tim W. kopterdoctor
Tim Boy this sure look familiar. I used VMF-221 MF-1 Maj. Floyd B. Parks aircraft on my Buffalo. Looking forward to see how your comes out. I’m hoping to have mine done this weekend. Good luck and happy building. Steve
TimW
I had the day off today so more progress on the Buffalo. I found the forward firewall was a bit of a chore to fit, so I didn't glue it until it went into the fuselage. Rather fiddly, but all went well in the end. Tim W. Gene
Looking quite good Tim! Doesn't that Buffalo take the cake for cockpit complexity? There is so much going on in there!

TimW
Looking quite good Tim! Doesn't that Buffalo take the cake for cockpit complexity? There is so much going on in there! You're right there! I didn't realize just how busy it was going to be until I started trying to put in all those struts/supports. I had a few hair-pulling moments Thanks again, Tim W. TimW
Sorry for the long delay... the kit is completed and mounted on a base. I still have to do a few touch ups to the pilot figure and then take some photos. I would say all in all this was not an overly difficult build. The part that has given me the most headaches is the dang cockpit hood. I've glued it on in the open position. The $*@ thing really, really, really does not want to stay on... Pictures soon.
