Hello,

want to show you my first kit from Russian company Red Iron Models which I received some days ago (together with some other stuff from this great new brand!).

The Soviet road roller DU-11 is a fantastic kit with great detail. Some very (!) fine parts which need more then care to clean it without damaging...

Also some etched parts, wire, metal pipe, decals and a great instrucion included as well as a painting guide for 4 different versions. Also all the parts have mounting pins or according holes which fit perfect.

Despite the fact that it is a resin kit it fits like a standard plastic kit .... great!

First I have assembled the engine and the gear box .... added the small levers and lot of wiring for the engine and some linkage to the gear box and the levers ....

The engine remains visible thanks to the possibility of open engine covers!

Cheers

Micha

Hello,

Once all parts were glued together I have painted it all in matt black as a kind of primer. Next I have airbrushed a cloudy dark brown layer on it as the base for the rusty effects.

"Heavy Chipping Medium" followed, then the "main colors" followed - yellow at the engine and upper engine cover, blue at the frame, driver stand and side panels, red at the wheels.

Some chipping followed next, then a layer of clear coat before the decals will follow.

Hello,

the road roller is nearly done .... all parts painted wand weathered, then put together.

The front rollers got some springs made of thin wire ...

The road is a black sanding paper, then the rest of the base was covered with wood filler, painted and grass added. The  fallen leaves are birch seeds glued on the base, the poster is taken from the internet, printed and glued on a scratch built wall.

Michael, you got this looking the real deal, man... I love how you made the drums look like worn steel.... with diesel on them to stop the new asphalt from sticking........ incredible.....also looks like a little of the 'tack coat' splashed o the machine too.....
