Great stuff Kent, glad to see your corrections to the front seat. Two other areas that need to be addressed; the lower fuselage underneath the cockpit (see my pictures in LSP Walkarounds section) and lower wing dihedral which is too flat in the kit.

Max

Thank you Max I will address these issues...

Kent, any progress? Love the work so far

Yes Ian, I have been busy detailing and working on the doped linen...

Wing ribs covered before a spray with thinned smoke color...

Maybe a little too much, but it can be toned down later. I have decided to add some details to the wing ribs...

I'm trying to replicate something like this...

Maybe it's a bit too accentuated, but I like the extra detail...

Utterly brilliant Kent!  Each one of those little marks is a knot; I watched canvas being applied to a wing and doped, each knot threaded individually and a very complicated knot it is too!

Max

Thanks Max! I've been working on a technique to add the stitching and tape details to wings, it's not WNW's but it does the job...

How to make rib tapes in 1/32 scale is something I have been experimenting with for some time now.

Why you may ask? Training, there are so many planes not available and probably never will be available as a kit.

Many historic and fascinating planes that I really want to build at some point. But in order to do that, I will have to be able to elevate the detailing level to get as close as possible to e.g. WNW kits...

The rib tapes of a Sopwith Camel, it's quite pronounced, not as much on the Tiger Moth though...

I have seen it done using very thin strips of styrene and a 'rosie the rivetter' tool.

But this is my version of creating rib tapes, be aware, it's pretty time consuming and you will need some patience...

For the rib tapes I'm using... tape or rather a sheet of vinyl masking cut into about 1.5 mm strips depending on which type of rib tape you want.

7698-250917081140-122542315.jpeg

The rib 'cap' with the stitchings are made from masking tape. Using a steel ruler, the tape is mounted upside down trying to keep

it ca. 0.8 mm over the edge of the ruler...

The ruler is them turned upside down and a 'rivetting' tol with a large spacing (1.5-1.8 mm's) is used to make the stitching...

7698-250917081141-122561503.jpeg

The rib cap is placed carefully over the center of the vinyl rib tape...

7698-250917081142-122571849.jpeg

The result should be something like this...

7698-250917081142-122581197.jpeg

Finally the assembled rib tape is placed on the wing...

This way makes me feel more in control, but if you have additional input to get a better result, please let me know...

The underside with the added details (thanks Max!)

Now there's now turning back, I will have to get on to the rigging...
