Las Vegas Metro Ford Interceptor

Not really much of a model as it comes as a plain white diecast.  I been wanting to build this particular car for awhile now but the decals are really difficult to find.  I painted the black parts along with the light bar as it comes in plain, clear plastic.  I wish someone made this in regular styrene since the diecast cars aren't very good.  This is what our cars looked like before we went to the SUV interceptor.

I spent over 20 years with the LVMPD before I was injured by a carjacking suspect which ended my career.  I haven't been gone long and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss it.  It's an awesome department to work for and there is never a dull moment.  I'm sure they saved a lot of lives on the night of Oct 1st.

This one's for them...

Thanks Martin!  Your right, it would need a lot of weathering to look like the real thing... Including a few dents here and there! haha

Oh, the decals are from Bill Bozo but I don't think he make them anymore.  They are really hard to find plus the PD copyrighted their stuff making it even more difficult to get anything related to the department.

Bryan - I know you didn't get to leave on your terms, but you did make it out. I've been retired since '07 from NYPD, and I've been building models ever since! Enjoy retirement - and good work on the car!

Thanks John!

Do you still miss it?  I wish I didn't so much, although I don't miss all the BS that goes with it nowadays.  It was a much better job back in the day.

I had some good friends at Metro that were former NYPD cops.  I visited NY with one of them and had a great time.  I remember going to a cop bar somewhere in the city and everyone was great.  All the guys treated me like I was one of them.  We don't really have "cop" bars in Vegas so it was a treat.

Thanks for leaving a message...

Bryan,

I miss working with good people, but then I remember why I chose to retire. I had a great time but I don't think I could work patrol these days in this environment. There were definitely neighborhood "cop bars" in some places. My last command we tended to just drink on the street behind the precinct - LOL. Still, make the most of your time now!
