My first finished build for 2017 :frantic:

6 months, and that's a real record for me, normally i do it in about a year. That said, my accident gave me lot's of free time, so you guy's know the reason now :evil_laugh:

For this build i used for the first time Mr. Paint, which gave me lot's of joy.

Well here they are, hope you guy's like it the way she is. :hmmm:

Really nice work, Danny!

I think you depicted just the right amount of wear on the wing roots; not too much, not too little. At the time of her wipeout, Marine's Dream exhibited a lot more bare metal on the right wing root, but since its so easy to go overboard attempting to depict that, safe thing to do is to underplay it.

I also see you used the Eduard Brassin tyres with the cruciform tread pattern. I have some of those but haven't tried em out yet.

Did you apply the Mr Paint over bare plastic in any areas? Did you have any problems masking over it? I've been curious about trying that paint out.

Something else that you could do if you wanted, is to cut up the white decal Tamiya or Barracuda gives you in the decal sheet to put "tape" over the gun muzzles. Most pictures i've seen of these planes show the muzzles covered with tape on the ground. What i'm not completely sure about is whether or not the tape was shot through in flight, or removed just before takeoff.

Thanks for posting. Now, all we need is a decent 32nd scale Wildcat and Hellcat.......

Thank's David for your nice comment mate.

Indeed, if it come's to wheatering i am really careful with that, maybe a little bit to careful. People often told me that, but i just am afraid to go overboard with that.

Eduard Brassin tyres are a real joy to work with, i strongly recommend them.

I first put Alclad gloss black primer onto the model prior to paint. But, when masking some areas, some paint came lose, so i don't know if that's the way to go. For my next build i will use Mr. Hobby surfacer prior to painting with Mr. Paint. That said, i'm really happy with Mr. Paint, this is just very good stuff.

About the gun muzzles, that was my plan from the beginning, but at some point i decided not to do that. Maybe i will take a note from you and still re-consider my first plan. :hmmm:

Danny,

Amazing work! I've loved watching this build come together, and the final results look really authentic. Thanks for sharing this!

Cheers, Tom

Danny,

Simply awesome, this is perhaps the VERY BEST overall finish I have ever seen on a well worn island based aircraft.

Great work!

 Danny,

Your ready for inspection pictures have taken your build to the next level of display. As I've said before, I'm more then impressed with your perfect build and incredible weathering. The more that I look at your pictures, the more that I keep on seeing. You've treated various areas differently as they would have indeed weathered or been worn by feet, hands, grease and grime that way. The leading edge of the wings and the top of the wing by the cockpit, where you have the paint being worn away isn't over done as it is so often, yet is clearly a focal point that attracts the viewers eyes.  Like wise is the area all around the gun an ammo compartments which is weathered/worn differently then any other area of the aircraft.

The final set of pictures is all about the bottom, and it's once again weathered differently then any areas on the top side.

Just a great build, and that's for taking the time to share it with us.

Fantastic work, Danny, and great inspiration for my own build (which I really must get back to). The obvious question from me now, is: may I publish it on the website?

Kev

Thank's Kev for the nice comment. :speak_cool:  and yes off course, please feel free my friend.

Looks great, Danny. I really like the exhaust staining on the belly.

Jim

Thank's Jim, i was afraid it was a little bit overdone.
