Zoids Gun Sniper Leena Special - A what??!!

So having all these builds (B-25, F-4E, PR XI Spitfire) I thought I'd throw in something different.

What is it? Zoids are a Japanese Sci-fi series from the '80s and' 90s. Basically they're armed cyborg dinosaurs that have lots of guns, rockets and, a shopping basket...

Gotta have a shopping basket for all your extra ammo.

Similar to most Bandai kits, it's a press fit and glue isn't a must but definitely handy in certain places. The biggest hurdle is the paint scheme since pretty much every color is a custom mix of Gunze paints. So I stated with the main colors which are various shades of blue.

Not being that skilled at brushwork, I decided to first paint and then mask off the teeth.

Then I sprayed the black.

I then assembled the cockpit/head.

Next was the neck and them I combined the two subassemblies.

Forgot to mention that for those who aren't fond of multiple colored sprues, there are eight different sprue colours in the box.

More soon hopefully.

Love that series, super cool, it reminds me when I was a little boy and saw this boxes at local hobby store and asked my

father to bought me one, and he did it :)  Big doberman-robot with a pilot at the head/cockpit :)

And by the size of the figure I thing this animal-robots are at 1/72 scale or close :)

One day I will build and my beast.

Looking with great interest  your work here :)

Cheers buddy

It's great to see there's a bunch of us who remember this from our childhood.

I've been slowly working away at this. The biggest challenge is painting everything in subassemblies or just on the sprue. With so many contrasting colours and they way bits overlap one another, there's no other way to do it.

With that being said, here's a bunch of parts prepped and with a coat of paint.

Some more, in this case all are for the legs.

One leg together, and the parts for the second.

Both done.

LOL - I think the term "sniper" is a bit of an exaggeration for something this big! I remember Zoids as a kid. Aren't they also the series which had "Ligers"? I'm sure that was the one I saw in a hobby shop not long ago. They were seriously awesome and I wanted one but not at the price they were hocking it off for

Yup, Zoids is the one with Ligers in it. There's quite the variation of them too. I have the Panzer Zero Liger in the stash.

As for the Sniper bit, I think you're right about it being a slight misnomer. This one has 4 Gatling style guns, four larger cannon, a bunch of rockets and more.
