Hi guys and gals,

You've no doubt been following Kev's excellent build of the Do 335B-2 which is soon to be released. Some of you mentioned that you were wanting to see the other versions to, such as the two seat, and the fighter without the wing cannon. Well, the 335A-0 has already landed with me here, so it looks like we should see other versions sooner, rather than later.

Two new sprues are included in this kit. A clear one which has no blisters or the armoured panels, and of course a sprue with a new forward leg/wheel/mudguard, wing inserts without blisters, bomb and new instrument panel/forward gun doors.

I love his plane, but I can't help but think that this is a lot of money to be spent on what was mostly a fictional aircraft. Maybe it would have been a different story. 6 months later, but most of these were stillborn.

I'll build one though!

Fictional? No, it was built. ;) Thirty-seven according to Wiki. That's over 30 more than the Ho 299.

Maybe not in big numbers. Don't forget the A-0 in the NASM, and that France operated/evaluated the B-2 also.

Yeah, I know that, but it was very, very limited, and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't it see NO combat?

I wish they'd concentrate on more famous aircraft that NEVER get modeled, or even a second look, like the 109 or 190, to name a couple.

Well now. . .as for whether or not it saw combat, that depends who you ask. I recall hearing the Clostermann encountered one while flying a Tempest and although it did not engage, it was able to accelerate with impunity and leave the combat area. I had heard somewhere along the way that some pilots had alleged combat with the aircraft, but I guess it falls into the modern term of "pictures or it didn't happen."

  • 4 weeks later...

Why is it that a few folks insist on complaining that they don't like this or that subject of new releases? No one cares if someone else doesn't like what they do like. It would be great if folks would let those of us that ARE interested have a discussion without the unwanted interruption. Maybe the mods could take care of that?

I'd love to see this one built, James. I'm guessing that's on your list of things to do? ;) ;) ;)

That's not really practical, D. A discussion of LSP kits can't all be one sided, with no dissension perspectives. To only allow happy thoughts, is to dismiss those with a differing opinion.

I don't think that was his intention.

If I read correctly, I think it just means people who jump onto a topic they have no interest in, to say they have no interest in it, before saying they wish the company had done something different entirely. The internet is infested with this pointless trend.

It's like walking into a debating society which wants to discuss cars, and complaining that you aren't discussing planes.

Perhaps that's just my perception Kevin, and I'll kindly agree to differ with your opinion.

I disagree, James. Much like voting, silence implies approval, and not everyone approves of all new kits, wishing for something else instead.

Then they should start another "I want a...." thread, instead of turning every new release thread off topic. That's just the way I see it, though.
