Hey all,

What's the deal with the Mossie tail wheel?

Was it made of wood as well? It's round like a tire, but it doesn't look like a tire

Curious...

Cheers, Ian

As far as I am aware, yes, a solid rubber anti-shimmy tire/wheel.

If you want to know everything that can be known on the Mossie get this book.  I've read it cover to cover many times

Cool. I always thought it was solid rubber.

Interesting, Ron, as I do have that book (not sure where it is right now though), and have never even looked through it yet.

Always wondered why the RAF seemed to have more trouble with tail wheel shimmy than the USAAF did.  I'm not aware of any US aircraft that had such a tire on it.
