But then I had a look at the float-version and guess what? One of the options is a Yellow Cub with White wings and FLOATS! Just like a Kinder-egg, three whishes in one, eh? NFiler Posted January 11, 2017 Share Posted January 11, 2017 Let's not get confused here. The Yellow with Black lightning stripe is the factory J-3 Cub scheme. Not the Super Cub. The Cream and Maroon scheme shown on the float version box is the most common factory delivery Super Cub scheme. Of course in a long career both ended up with a lot of other paint too. Zero77 Posted January 11, 2017 Share Posted January 11, 2017 Thanks Brian, Peter and Stefan ! That's a very nice kit, simple, easy to build with a very descent fit, and of a very cute aircraft. Some details like the floats rudders are very simplified but can be pretty easily detailed or redone. However there is a big issue with the yellow scheme in the box : that specific aircraft doesn't match the kit as it has a big panoramic windowed roof and the kit has a more standard roof. The good news is that the mod is not so difficult to do. Love the Super Cub ! My next one will be An Alaska State trooper one with bush wheels ! I taught a fellow to fly in a new one straight from the factory and it was fantastic! Luck would have it I found the photo on line which was taken at Zahns Airport. Those are the T hangers on the north side of the field. There was no #13 - 11, 12, 12A, 14, and so on. This is the factory paint scheme with Cub yellow and the famous black lightning bolt. I'm pretty sure the photo was taken in the late 70's. This was owned by the Halifax Flying Club and 20 odd years later met an Air Canada Captain who had it on straight EDO floats. Hmmm, only solution I can come up with is to kitbash the interior and fuselage with the floated one.... Would that work? ...or just build it, as is.
