Right. Now my Mustang Madness has moved into paint and wait, I've done a bit more

The cockpit is now faired over:

And I'm finding my way through the engine cowling. I can now construct the tinwork as far forward as the divider

And as paint is in the air, the wings got some:

Too bad for the distorted plastic, but that surgery will prevent any more problems later.

Very good rib detail on that wing by the way!

Alain

Thank you

The distorted bits had to go, I briefly tried filling this side, the port side was worse! And as you say, this is the safest option

I'll probably have to knock up a pair of false bulkheads then I think I can recreate the lost part

Have you considered thin alu sheet (wine bottle tops, food packaging etc...)?

It'll hold its shape and you can use superglue.

Matt

The aluminium is really too thin, one careless finger and it will distort

However, I do have some brass sheet. Interesting thought

I remember using thin sheet plastic to make intake tubes, had to be really careful gluing them. I tried filling the seam, but the filler distorted the sheet worse than the glue!! Sometimes it's better to cut out the bad, start over again.

Regarding the solvent shrinkage mentioned on post #85, it just looks like dents to me.  Should have a word with the ground crew.

What!! You mean it's a variety of hangar rash

I'll instigate a witch hunt immediately
