So true, Pharty and Bomber, in UK we tend to grind to a halt at first hint of a snow flake falling out of the sky ... obviously i'm exaggerating here, but when I see how other country's cope with far worse winters year after year, each year we get snow the grind to a halt with nearly every thing is shocking to see, really is ... its embarrassing actually :)

True; but then other countries who get snow worse than we do have more things like snow-ploughs to cope with it, and, dare I say it, are more used to it. One Christmas, a trip that normally took MrsC and me two and a half to three hours by road took fifteen hours, most of which was spent crawling through London because the M25 was at a complete standstill.  After that, I'm not going anywhere if there's so much as a single flake!

Don't you guys get more modelling done when it snow's?

Not when the power is out. No lights in my workroom without working current.

It was in the 20s yesterday morning in Dallas, and a high in the mid 70s tomorrow. We're just confused around here.

Depends where you are in Canada. My daughter lives in Victoria, British Columbia now, after growing up in Ontario. She laughs when they get snow out there. The city panics with a couple inches of snow that she says wouldn't even stop school buses back here. Even at that, it's amazing how with the first snowfall everyone forgets how to drive. Part of being Canadian I guess.

Richard

That is not an exclusively Canadian thing, I assure you. It's unbelievable.

I got home 30 minutes ago after picking up my boys from school and the snow has started coming down. We're supposed to get 15 cm by tomorrow so time to get the fat bike out :)

In the UK we just can’t seem to understand the frozen water stuff..........

Maybe explain the stuff from a general physics perspective: no friction; blocks the light so no see much out window; provides new higher levels of inertia so getting things moving is not easy; negative heat transfer; alters the adhesive properties of water. Might work you never know.

Howell has 2 inches or so. I just fixed the snow blower at the last minute but I do not use it until 3 'inches, wet stuff.

Most folks around here seem to cope with the roads. The winds of 20 to 30mph at 19F forcasted for tommorow will show Michigan at its worst. Some time the wind blows the snow right off the driveway.

Merry Christmas

Too cold for Nessie, she must be hibernating in her under water cave. Live Loch Ness web cam here ...

http://www.lochness.co.uk/livecam/

Just a scattering of snow at some of the Northern Scottish airports, Aberdeen has more, off there tomorrow for a check up on my neck operation from earlier this year, looks cold ... hate this time of year, LOL.

Starting to get dark here just now and its only 15:30, so if you check link in an hour or so you wont see much until tomorrow now, I guess the airports will have lighting though.

I wish it would snow.

Growing up in Michigan, living in Colorado I miss it since I've moved "down south".
