Just a note that you have to be on the mailing list to pre-order...

Also I think all the Canadian Squadrons Typhoons were armed with bombs, no rockets.

More Typhoon Essentials
Early (to January 1945) national markings in 4 scales
&
airframe stencil / data markings in 1/24 scale

These sets are designed to round out your Typhoon project in any of the four most popular scales. The 1/23 scale Airframe Stencil / Data set completes our coverage of these details, with the other three scales already in the catalogue.

The national markings sets are designed to replace kit-supplied selections - both colours and sizes - in all scales. During the research phase of the RCAF Typhoons offered in this newsletter, it came to light that two different sizes of upper wing roundels were used on Typhoons through to January 1945. All four scales are covered here.

Note that the 1/24 scale set carries the full version the smaller of the upper wing surface roundels, but only the central Dull Red of the larger one. This replaces the too small, too bright (in our opinion, while the blue looks pretty good) central red of the 1/24 scale kit's large roundels.

AOD24C08 - national markings set featuring corrected red centres for the kit's upper wing roundels, as well as often-used smaller upper wing roundels and the under-wing, fuselage and tail national markings all in full.

AOD48C08 - both sizes of upper wing roundels as well as a complete set of under-wing, fuselage, and tail national markings. The 1/72 and 1/32 scale sets feature these same items.

AOD24S03 - stencil data for your big-scale Typhoon. Content is identical to that of our earlier 1/32 scale offering - enough for one complete model. The smaller scale editions provide enough markings for two complete models. Each Aviaeology Airframe Stencil / Data markings set features alternate variations and authentic period type styles.

Aircraft covered in this set are:
1. Typhoon Ib JR249F3*P "Lita" of 438 Sqn, April 1944 - this is a rare documented example of a "car-door" Typhoon Ib in RCAF service (currently available in all scales except 1/24th).
2. Typhoon Ib JR5005V*X of 439 Sqn, July-August 1944.
3. Typhoon Ib MN3455V*G "Peace River" of 439 Sqn, Nov. 1944.
4. Typhoon Ib MN413I8*T of 440 Sqn, August 1944.
5. Typhoon Ib MN518R*D - personal aircraft of 143 Wing commanding officer W/C R. Davidson, April 1944.
6. Typhoon Ib MN597F3*N of 438 Sqn - aircraft which W/C Davidson was flying when he crash landed in enemy territory, May 1944.
7. Typhoon Ib MN716F3*A "Diane" / "Archer" of 438 Sqn, Oct. - Nov. 1944.
8. Typhoon Ib MP149I8*P "Pulverizer II" of 440 Sqn, Sept. - Dec. 1944.
9. Typhoon Ib RB205FGG - personal aircraft of 143 Wing commanding officer W/C F.G. Grant, Oct 1944 - 1 January 1945 (destroyed during the Bodenplatte attack on Eindhoven).
* In addition to these nine aircraft, markings based on an incomplete but nonetheless tantalizing photographic record are included for S/L (later W/C) Grant's MN426 F3*H and F/L Hardy's MN311 (the original "Pulverizer"). Even more tantalizing and less complete from a photographic record point of view are the three variations of 438 Sqn's short-lived Wildcat emblem. A pair of each is included, along with one set of serials and codes of an aircraft that may have carried one of the variations. This is for the sake of completeness for your decal collection - with the hope that more conclusive photographic evidence of serial / code tie-ups will come to light in future (as often seems to be the case).

In addition to the usual decal placement guide for each subject aircraft, the Docs portion of this package features photographs of the subject machines, configuration (propellers, tailplanes, filters, etc.) and detailed finish scheme notes, as well an illustrated article on modelling the anti-personnel cluster bomb units used on these aircraft. As usual in these Aviaeology Decals 'n Docs packages, a B&W hardcopy is included in the poly bag with the decals, while a full colour PDF is emailed once your order has shipped.
