CANicoll
Your build is looking amazing and I can't wait to see more of your build. I'm close to where Rick is and live about 20 min away from Udvar Hazy and also got an 'up-close' view of the 229 there. Amazing piece of work that machine is. Here are some pics from Nationals of the 229 the ZM builder did and had at the show. Freaking amazing detail! The 'nail' heads in the wood panels were applied with the tip of a brush. Jan_G
small progress on Horten I didn't have much time to took in progress photos in past days. But generally fit is great and its pure fun build painted resin weighted wheels well, I'm not real "what-if" guy so I decided to paint it with late war camo pattern as advised by manufacturer simple shading done, everything painted with Mr. Paint stuff For the first time I have tried Gauzy agent gloss coat fromAK Interactive for clear parts and the result is amazing. I felt like I read positive reference somewhere about metal legs from ZM. However after opening the bag I found it to be a soft metal that bends very easily and there is no aditional detail compared to plastic ones (SACstuff??). avoid buying this, even if you will get it cheap as me. thanks for looking jan LSP_Kevin, sandokan, CANicoll and 3 others
Bruce_Crosby
Hi Jan, I've got some earlier metal parts for Z-M kits and I think the undercarriage legs were originally made by G-Factor. It was absolutely solid. The latest items are sourced from MDC and although cleanly mastered, the final material is way too soft. Bought some at Telford last year and won't bother using them. Might have a chat with The Old Man if he's there this year. Regards, Bruce Crosby Nicholas R Larson and Jan_G
Jan_G
Thanks for this info Bruce. Now I'm sure that I read somewhere that it was g-factor quality When I consider that normal price of this "metal"legs is on the same level as Ernie's G stuff... heavy used look red band (JG1) added meantime thanks for looking jan Tolga ULGUR, LSP_Kevin, Jim Barry and 6 others

Jan_G
Thanks all you guys for positive comments - really apreciate it Small update on Horten. This is the final stage. All parts painted and washed. still need to put it together and spray final matt or semimatt coat IMHO this is really great kit. No issues with anything canopy - easy to paint with attached masks I have reinforced the main undercarriage leg with a metal tube air brakes (AM photo etched parts make difference here) thanks for looking jan Edited October 14, 2017 by Jan_G Trak-Tor, Hartmann52, Shawn M and 5 others
