Martinnfb
Wouldn't it make sense to use G-6 instead ?
Radders
Probably, but I'm using the G-10 lol Chris Wimmer and Out2gtcha
Radders
Hi guys, I've cut plastic and tried the centre wing section. Fit is good, but it does need more plastic trimmed... I'm really excited for this conversion and seeing as It's my first go converting a kit, it's a big learning curve too. I've painted all the cockpit, but a few bits need sorting before I post a photo... Jim Barry, LSP_Kevin, Out2gtcha and 2 others
Radders
This is back on the bench, I never posted about it but after painting the cockpit, somehow I 'lost' a side wall... which really P'd me off! Nearly a year on, and honestly don't ask me how.. I found the said sidewall in my camera bag, hidden within a crease at the bottom... and i'm baffled how it got there as my camera bag don't go into my garage, and my camera bag is very rarely opened fully to show the bottom (it's like a giant rucksack camera bag...) So finding that the other day, I got it all back out, and got cracking.... fuselage should all be butted up very soon.. photos to follow! Radders
It's been well over a year since I've been at my bench, I've been a busy boy through 2019... but now back at it and working on some kits. Dug this out and finally got the wings on the main resin part. More to follow soon.. should be at the bench quite a bit now until the new year. Rick K
Watching this. I have this conversion. Plan is to do double build with my 109H and Ta152. The big question is when?
Kais
Radders, Nice work. One thing that has concerned me when I research the H series, Versuchs or other , is that references (such as they are) usually state that the increase in span was achieved by adding a 1 meter extension at the wing root. Never have I read that the coolant radiators stayed in place. I would have thought it easier to extend the coolant hoses, rather than fabricating a closure for the original radiator openings AND then fabricating the new section to accomodate the radiators in the original position. I would be keen to hear what you and others think of this hypothesis ? Not trying to derail your build log, just my perverse OCD brain trying to align the cosmos! Radders
Hi, Kais. I'm just building it as per instructions, moving the rads more inboard and filling in the originals... it's a good conversion and gives me good practise. I've got nearly all the wings done now.. it's not been easy but some time here and there and it's slowly come together. I will get some photos up in the next day or two. Thanks, Rick. Once this is done i'll be jumping onto my Planet Models Fw-190C (V-18/U-1) Kanguru conversion.. Greg W, Kais and Alain Gadbois
Radders
Progress, finally... Have got the wing done bar the flaps and slats... really happy with the finish, just a little bit of detail to scribe back in. Fit wasn't great, taken a lot to smooth it in as you can see by the large Mr.Surfacer areas. Light coat of primer to check it out and I can now move onto the fuselage and close it up. Dpgsbody55
Interesting. I missed this when you started, but I'll be following now Cheers, Michael
Radders
Actually shocked there is nearly a year between posts, doesn't feel that long. But the Lockdowns here in the UK have flown past for me, business as usual in some cases and have also set up a online business in the mean time keeping us busy too... modelling has been on going, but I've been on other stuff. Pushed forward with the Bf-109H last night though, cockpit all done and, fuselage glued together... for the photos, wings pushed on, but tail glued. Sadly I cut the fuselage a tad too short, hence the gap. But it's ok.. easily fixable. This *will* be done in 2021.... ! Bit late, but I wish everyone a happy new year here too...
