Really like the results you get with Maskol. I've been using rubber cement when i wanted to have chipped paint, i'll try your method next time i need the effect on a TPS scheme. I think using the Maskol/rubber cement gives you much more control than the salt effect does.

hello

time for an update ! THe painting and weathering process is still in progress. It has been all about airbrushing light grey, dark blue hues, grime grey and liquid masking, foam fabric used as a random template and the Daco book used a a Holly Guide.

My guideline was first to set  high contrast with light and dark hues and then come back to a more balanced finish by using more and more medium hues.

My lighting was done with Tamiya white, darkening  was done with midnight and medium blues ( WW2 Navy hues ); and grime was about Gunze H317/301/79/77

By now I still have to balance my shades on FS36320 ( nose flanks area ), and weathering the engine nacelles with oily/brownish colors will start. ( Or maybe tails, i dont know yet, actually, because I'm also waiting for a spare Zotz decal sheet as I failed a NAVY marking in an excess of stupid ! Luckily I found one, that's the main thing.

Well, i can`t do that kind of weathering :) Looks tremedously outstanding! Surreal indeed!

Of course you can ! This is just about working with hignly thinned colors, almost tinted thinner, actually. Try and try and try ! And as these are very thin touches of color, if there's a fail I use a medium micromesh as an eraser and give another try !

Fanch  :)

Hello and thank you!

I rubb the mask off with my finger. It dries almost instantly when set on small quantities with a foam pad and its removed as quickly. Moreover i work with drops of gunze and lot of pure alcohol for fine work so it dries in seconds as well. All in all this allows instant and under inspiration work.
