These lovely bastards come tearing over our house periodically on touch-and-go training at the nearby Naval Outlying Field- it's amazing! It's a good thing we have good soundproofing or we'd be deaf, as they're just above treetop level. I can the crew moving their heads in the cockpit! Imagine laying in bed and seeing three red lights banking in right toward you- I've never seen like. I've got my eyes open for a 1/48 kit, as you might imagine. titan8251 Posted April 25, 2017 Author Share Posted April 25, 2017 Update # 2: Started the fading and shading of the fuselage with various grays, and wanted to show not a rough life at sea but a well used life so I went a little easy with the 12C touch ups. These birds are getting beat up now and how this is a commission build, the customer calls the shots. Anyway on to the pics. Also, that odd-looking ALQ-99 is never carried by the Growler (only the Prowler), the Growler carries the standard version on the centerline if in fact there is one loaded there. I guess he likes the look of the squatty pod. If I were to do one for myself (which I might), I will get his pods for sure. I really wish there were aftermarket decals for the Growler so you wouldn't have to use the kit decals. The Trumpeter Squadron markings are okay, its the stencil markings that are a pain.
