1/72 Hasegawa Lanc Dambuster

Finally I have my lighting sorted IOT take piccies again. The new light box will even be suitable for the 1/35 S boat when it starts getting built.

Anyway this is a Lanc Dambuster in 1/72. Everything seemed to fit OK and I dragged it out simply wanting to avoid the AMS and slap something together. I don't really like 1/72 much (except Naval perhaps) but purchased it having a nostalgic moment. I had a real soft spot for my Grandfather and used to absolutely love hanging out at his house ( now my mums house) when I was kid. He brought me this kit and I still have it in various pieces in a junk collection. I remember the little room I put it together in. His house was a sanctuary in so many ways.

This kit is going to one of my patients. He also loves planes.

I've sent him a few teaser pics along with an email regarding his service in Mi5

I've been building this for you. I figured there were aspects of your previous employment reminded me much of the guys in 617 Sqn. A new version by Peter Weir of the Dambuster movie is being made at the moment. Not far to go with the model...not too far. I'll have it on a stand for you as well. Its not that your period of service should define your entire life but sometimes I think such efforts by necessity often go without fitting acknowledgement. Far more admirable to have served knowing there would be limited or no recognition than having a chestful of medals for having attended and been upright and breathing. Its a choice very few would make and that means its all the more special.

Feel free to add citicisms/sugestions. I certainly don't profess to be any kind of expert.

Cheers Matty

I found the Dark Earth colour a tricky one to paint.

Windows and a few small bits to go and then handover...
