a house to build models in lol

Reminds me of when I designed a new workbench arrangement for my hobby cave, then built a scale model of it. I found myself sitting at my hobby bench, building a model of a hobby bench, where I would eventually sit and build models.

Mine hands down is the Model Factory Hiro 1/12 Rothmans Porsche 956.

http://www.modelfact.../archives/14541

Having picked up their Maclaren F1 LM kit in 1/24, I had figured that the Porsche might be an easier build due to the larger scale. Nope, instead they threw even more details at it. Like separate brake calipers and pads. Which have PE retaining clips.

I really don't know when I'll (if ever) get the courage to build it. Someone else on here built it and it looks gorgeous so it's possible...

Probably the most expensive (I try never to pay full retail), was a 1:16 Tamiya King Tiger (Henschel/Krupp turret), which I paid well over $100 for. I sold it (for a tidy profit), when I discovered that Trumpeter was working on a 1:16 Jagdtiger, which I still have not purchased,... yet.

Only one? Amateur!   I've been through 4.  One for me, 2 for my boys when they turned 18 and had my best friend talk me out of one.  In that category, my Springfield Inc. "Fully Loaded" M-1A would be my most extravagant.  Of course now I'm eyeing an MP-5 and a supressor.  Still trying to figure out how to make it happen.

Oh man! A loaded M1A (or M21) is at the very tippy top of my bucket list!!! (Sorry for the hijack!!)

And x2 on the kit car, you definitely win! It's a kit, it's large scale, and it's expensive. Its even plastic.

Crap, I completely forgot about my DeAgostini Millennium Falcon kit, that was nearly $1400 paid over 12 months. I have stashed in two large yellow plastic totes in the closet. It is waiting until I move into my new house, since I don't have the room to build it right now. As a model kit, that was the most expensive, and probably will always be the most expensive kit I will ever buy.

Now thats a win too!  I always wanted to build a Pietenpol Air Camper, but never found the time.

At one time I helped one my college professor build his RV6, that was a couple years of riveting hell! He got to do all the fun stuff, I riveted wings and fuselage. I still had fun in a twisted sort of way.

I'm a bit of a cheapskate.  The WNW Green Tail Trilogy is my biggest single spend.  But once you consider that it's three kits, the cost for each is pretty cheap.

Oo, I'd forgotten that Agostini HMS Bounty. When I finally got around to looking at the parts with a view to starting it, and discovered all the plywood parts had gone seriously mouldy! So not only was it rediculously expensive, all I have left is a load of plastic dead eyes and some mahogany strips. Yep, definitely the most expensive extravagance I've ever bought....

My Father told me two things would happen as I got older.
I can't remember either of them....

Good to hear you say "DC-3" and not "C-47" my friend. :)  I'm saying "DST" myself.
