Texas

Recommended Posts

MRC 1/35 scale UH-1C Huey Gunship built OOB. I have joined a our local club helicopter group build with this model and just thought I would share it with you guys to. This will be my first helicopter build in many many years.

Here's a few photos of what I am doing:

First off was the assemble of the floor, rear wall and the engine area. upon test fitting I found that these parts are don't fit the flusage halves veru well. There is about a twenty thousands gap all around so I added some strips of Evergreen .

Here's some of the engine, gear box and rotor head...

The kit main rotary shaft is plastic and looks very weak to me so after assemble I cut it apart and drilled out the main components to accept a 1/16 inch brass tube.

Next up is the front seats and the instructions are not really clear as to there assemble, so a little research is necessary.

Fantastic another Huey in the making. Very cool.

Great start. I was feeling a little lonely with just my Huey on the LSP.

What research material are you using for this build?

Are you familiar with the photetched set interior/exterior for the Huey from Eduard?

Cant wait to see your next update.?

Loooooking Gooooddd!!

Thanks.....

I have the Squadron In Action book as well as another Squadron book plus some IPMS articles that I am using for reference on this build.

I know of three Edward sets for this Huey and I thank the Cobra Company may have some reson AMP.

I just want to build this one OOB to check the fit problems with the kit and then I might get the Photoetched parts for the next one. I have two more MRC Huey's in the stash. I thank one is called Heavy Hog and the other one is "FROG".

Do you have any suggestions for reference material that might help me on the next one?

Cool stuff so far Texas. I am itching to do a Huey too. I saw one at a local airshow that was done up as a Viet Nam bird. One of the details that caught my eye was an old Budweiser can, with the can opener top, mounted to the belt feed side of the M60 to smooth out the entrance to the gun. On the end of the can they had painted a nice, red peace sign. Too cool. Keep up the great work.
