Peter,
Only you can decide what is right for you. It's you committing to a year and a half build.

The best thing I can suggest is to follow your heart and nothing else. Whatever you choose, if you care to share your build progress, there will be a lot of us following with glee.

Best of luck,

Gaz

I'd go for the duck also! If not then the Tigercat. Not often you see a duck being built let alone in NMF. I'm with you on the stash part, too much temptation with multiple kits sitting in the cupboard screaming, pick me, pick me!

Another subliminable duck vote.

Once the number three, being the third number is reached, then lobbeth thou thy Holy hand grenade of Antioch towards thy foe who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it. Amen"

Well, the Spitfire was a race aircraft, how about a Reno racer, say Precious Metal? Little outside of the normal here, but there are some nice looking race planes. Don't know how many are NMF...

Question. Was there ever an aircraft that was not finished in some kind of protective finish?

Peter,

You did finish that extremely overworked Hobbycraft Sea Fury as well, have you forgotten that?

Recently you mentioned the P-47N, big and brutish, right up your alley. Although a Firefly would

be great too, you can always do one that has just left the factory before painting.

Cheers

Cees

Everyone does 51D's, but no one does a B, and you have access to the NAA drawings...

'but doesn't everyone do P51's...'

May be so, but not to your level.  And not at 1/18th scale.

' I need to know how others deal with choice after a build '

Build what you love.  Build what you think is beautiful.  It may be an aircraft, it may be a scheme   It may be neither.  It may be something that will complement what you already have in your display case.  Read a book.  Maybe something in a book will catch your fancy.

Good luck.

Sincerely,

Mark

Peter;

Personally, I would take a break from the big projects for a little while and build a couple of Matchbox kits. A bit of back to basics modelling fun!

Next project? Maybe everyone builds them, but a NMF P-51B would be well cool!
