AdamR
Update. Warning about this stuff: it may seem hard-cured after 24 hours, but may not be. I sprayed some Allclad on it after one day of drying, and a day later the Alclad had darkened considerably. In the future, I'll be giving this gloss black a week to fully cure on a real project. LSP is probably where I got the idea to try this MM 28002 lacquer stuff, picture share but wherever I heard of it: thanks! It goes on easier and levels better than any enamel or acrylic gloss black I've tried. Being a lacquer, it is probably bulletproof, too. I wish I'd found it before I used something else for the black Alclad undercoat on my current project. I know I'll be using it next time for that. Here's the test mule, with 2 coats on the left wing and 1 coat everywhere else: image url I just can't get over how wonderfully this paint leveled. There is not a sign of a rough spot from overspray anywhere. I thinned it about 2 parts "slow" automotive lacquer thinner to 3 parts paint. Great stuff. modelingbob
Model Master Lacquer Gloss Black is one of the best gloss blacks out there! But I do like my Mr Color gloss black a bit better. Out2gtcha

LSP_K2
I've only ever used the gloss black lacquer in the spray bomb, but it went on like glass.

pcben80
I know that I would appear to be in the minority (given the widespread criticism about the stuff), but I used Alclad's gloss black for the first time the other day and it turned out spectacularly! Left me with a glass like surface with none of the well-documented drying issues. Still waiting for a shipment of Alclad Airframe Aluminum to show up before I try it over the top but very pleased with the result so far. Maybe I got lucky? Cheers, Ben Zero77
Zero77
Maybe... Or maybe there were just some good and bad production batchs? The airframe aluminium over a perfectly glass like black surface is just spectacular. However, take care when handling the model as this paint is very fragile. And take a lot of care is you want to use decal setting solution as it usually damage the paint, too. pcben80

I will definitely keep all of that in mind as this will be my first experience with one of the "high-shine" Alclad finishes. petrov27
I am super sold on the Gunze Mr Color for gloss colors - with their leveling thinner it is just about fool proof (ideal as I am a fool when it comes to painting....) Just used their gloss blue on a non-LSP and it went on like a dream (not the greatest pic but ya get the idea) Zero77
AdamR
Model Master Lacquer Gloss Black is one of the best gloss blacks out there! But I do like my Mr Color gloss black a bit better. Well, I finally got some and tried it with Mr Color Leveling Thinner 400. To say I am impressed with the performance of this combination would be understating the case: "amazed" would be more accurate. I am not exaggerating when I say I've never airbrushed another gloss paint that produces a beautiful finish so easily. This is my gloss paint from now on. I just wish it was more widely available in the USA.
modelingbob
Told ya so!!!! For NMF bases, this is the only gloss black you need!!!! Plus it dries fairly quickly (no waiting days for it to cure).
AdamR
Plus it dries fairly quickly (no waiting days for it to cure). ^^Truth. What about their clear gloss? Does it perform the same? Edited September 14, 2016 by AdamR
