2 words:

It sucked.

Sorry, but despite a few moments of brilliance, it was 99% junk.  Worst Star Wars film in the entire franchise.

Thoroughly disliked.  Worse than even the Star Trek reboots...

The force is weak in this movie, you have been warned.

Very disappointed in Disney, and in the direction that the saga has been taken.

Dave

It will still do tons of business and Disney will feel justified in continuing with their vision.

Before long they will lock the original six in their vault like they have other films, in hopes people will forget about them. Then the sky is the limit for Disney.

Working on: AIR - Revell Spitfire Mk IIa   LAND - Bandai 1/30 Hummel, Zvezda Mercedes L4500A, Dragon Kubelwagen Ambulance

I was afraid of that. I'll go see it regardless but already didn't have too high hopes.
Will be interesting to see the extremes as usual for the SW movie opinions. Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic have it scoring highly.

Did they use Buchons instead of real 109s? That would be a deal breaker for me.

Probably should have just remade "The Empire Strikes Back". The only reason "The Force Awakens" was decent was because of its "similarities" to "A New Hope". Oh well, I have decided that, for the most part, I am not Hollywood's demographic, and if I find one or two films a year that are watchable, I'm fortunate. I'm looking forward to seeing Bladerunner on Amazon, its more my speed. And don't get me started on Superhero films. UGH.... :frantic:

I take those Tomato and IMDB scores with an entire salt shaker. I wouldn't be surprised if they're on the film industries payroll.

That's really sad to hear! Mark Hamil has waited a very long time to hit the big screen again in his role as Luke Skywalker!!
I haven't seen the film yet, but what my wife has explained to me recently is that the demographics have changed - the new and younger generations are influenced by the digital world/social media crap and suffer from attention disorders and deficits therefore requiring hybrid plot lines, less character development and shifting time perspectives (Dunkirk comes to mind)... in an attempt to capture and HOLD the attention of the viewing public... just have a look around in the theatre next time around how many dipsh***** pull out their cellphones and flood the seating with white light... people of the current generation can't follow or recall a plot line and they sure in the hell can't follow a full character development because everybody is a STAR nowadays and their egos can't cope with them not being IMPORTANT at that moment in time... our society has nutured narcissists that are more fragile than a blade of grass and screen writers and directors are trying novel approaches to reach them and thus producing what older generations would term CRAP movies... the generations of the 70's who went to see the original Star Wars films is from another galaxy in comparison to the current generation!! Wife is a clinical psychologist and I happened to ask her the other day why so many new films are of such crappy quality...
Cheers
Alan

Best thing about the force awakens is they beat the sh!t out of the m falcon Disney will prob mess up the next three. For me the first three and the remakes are the best period I figure the new film would suck they what to end the sky walker saga and start fresh

That's odd...Rotten Tomatoes has the critics giving it a 94% rating. Not one of the critic reviews I've read was negative,,the opposite actually.

I'll still go see it over the holidays for something to do.

Rotten Tomatoes was acquired by Fandango earlier this year, and strangely the slant of their reviews became much more positive than usual.

Coincidence?

Well that's an opinion that's completely at odds with the overwhelming majority of critics, and the people I know who've seen it.

Does not matter how bad it is.  I have never missed seeing a star wars movie in the Theater, further my 12 year old is really into it now.  So we are going period.  If it is fun great.  Really the 1st movie was really bad when you think about it.  Just listen to the Dialog in that movie.  Still love it though.  I think the key was the effects, some fun characters and the sound track.
