Vietnam aera F-4E Phantom, Revell

Recommended Posts

:P thanx dave

i have been kinda stuck with the decals, these twobobs offerings are quite brittle, especially the red stripe that runs over the back fuselage. it started desintegrating while still on paper

still have to touch up some spots with the airbrush

i also mounted the snakeeyes to the MER and now am trying to figure out how the mate them to the pylon. make note to self: next time join rack and pylon first

not much to show, but i think i will be able to finish it this time

back to plan A, a 2000lb bomb

this is the raw thing: modified fin from an M-117, body from a 2000lb LGB and a pointy thing that will be the nose.

fuseextender will be mounted after final shaping

more to come...

slightly too cool :please:

now i know why i have never seen a 3000pounder on the outer wing stations :please: :

it interferes with the flaps, so this is a no go

Karl,

Your bird is starting to look like Ol Double Ugly.

I like the shark mouth. :innocent:

According to the F4-1 External Stores Limitations tables the:

The M118 3000lb unit was carried on the C/L station 5 only.

I do not see where this weapon was allowed on any other station.

The Mk84 2000lb could be loaded on O/B stations 1 and 9 and C/L station 5.

The Mk84 fitted with a guided bomb uint package could be loaded on stations 1, 2, 8 and 9

Restriction was 4 per load.

The M118 fitted with a guided bomb uint package could be loaded on stations 2 and 8

Restriction was only 2 per load.

Possible note of interest the USAF F-4 Ailerons (outboard control surface) did not function as "drooped" flaps like the USN versions.

The Ailerons would displace from neutral +1 degree to -30 degrees.

Barry ;)

i completely forgot i had another buildthread going

during drying time of hunter parts i wondered why that F-4 was sitting on the workbench...then i remembered

thanx for the info barry

after taking a look what was still to do i stuck in the exhausts, after getting rid of some material that was in the way inside of the fuselage (remember the revell exhausts are a lot shorter than the CAM ones)

the weapons and pylons are ready to be hung on the plane, only the mk 84 bomb has to be painted first

i have still not decided if i should use the sparrows. the loadout looks like something that would be used in southern vietnam (just one fuel tank), so the mig threat was very low and the missiles are not really necessary

still have to put some more decals on and weather it
