Big, massive live music fan here, really am ... its been a tough year this year for sure ... had heart stent surgery at start of year, thought WoW but dealt with it, shortly after went and broke my neck in a silly accident, 58 YO now and have a very fragile skeleton problem ... I was  very safety conscious before, but even more so now, missed the Glasgow Iron Maiden show because of that stunt :(

Slowing down in life here now and thinking very differently about everything ... I value my personal friends in life much more these days and forgive the silly stuff that happened between us ... I consider LSP extended family too, been involved in debates and more here ... but now in life, I just want to get on.

Because I'm a bit disabled now I tend to focus on Music, mostly ... that and Scale modelling to of course.

Musics my first love though, went to see Australian Pink Floyd show at Glasgow Scotland on Saturday night, seen them before and the real Pink Floyd too ... WOW, got tickets for Roger Waters UK shows next year .... but this years Aussie Floyd show made me take stock about recent real life events. also my Friends in real life and on the internet here.

It must have been on my mind, but after show I asked my friends, why don't we try a Casino, to my surprise they were all up for it and that's what we did ... Glasgow UK is a long way from Vegas, but what happened there sure has made security tighten up, even at my concert I had to explain the metal in my back when I was scanned.

The Casino was fun though and I guess we did that even in defiance of what happened ... it will take more than that for good honest people to stop having fun and go about their everyday life.

I heard that David Gilmore is a fan of these Aussie tribute guys. I've only ever seen the Floyd once, back in about 1973, as I recall, and they were just outstanding, even then.

Yup, Kevin, the Australian Pink Floyd once played at David Gilmours 50th birthday party, Dave even went up and jammed with them, would loved to have seen that one :) Met the Aussie Floyd guys and asked them about that, they loved it ... mentioned Roger Waters to them too and sensed it was not a good idea to bring up, I wont repeat what one band member said about Roger but its something I would not type here LOL.

Having said that, I've got tickets to see Rogers UK Glasgow show for next June, Roger can be as political and bitter as he likes, he's still 1/4 1/3 or even one fifth of Pink Floyd, but he is some guy and still makes some magnificent music with a passion, the most creative one of Floyd for sure, no question.

Its a shame we wont ever see these great bands live again, lets face it ... a lot of my hero's have passed on now and those that survived those hectic times are retiring, Rush have retired, Deep purple (seeing them next month) are retiring, Black Sabbath have retired ... and many more.

Its safe to say Pink Floyd have retired too, for a long time Roger and Dave hated each others guts, so no shame in seeing sincere talented tribute acts like the Aussie Floyd, but Roger and David are now talking again, they were never the best of friends, but they did do live 8 together while Rick was still alive, also David has played at least one Roger Waters show to play guitar for Comfortably Numb.

This is a nice wee clip of Roger and Dave meeting again ... and I guess, internally, both are thinking  "enough is enough", we are not getting any younger" ... and I think that's wonderful.

Not sure Rush have really retired, they just won't do any prolonged touring again. One offs and special evehts still seem to be acceptable for Neil but the physicality of doing so much with 3 guys has taken its toll.

Unfortunately that means the chance of seeing them over here again is nil. Have seen them every time since the Vapor Trails tour and a few times back in the 80s and they are comfortably the most virtuoso band I've ever seen live.

Saw Floyd in Glasgow 1967 on the Jimi Hendrix tour with the Move,Nice and Amen Corner (well rough with the smooth) Greens Playhouse over 4000 seats an amazing place.
The backdrop for the light show left a bit to be desired a big bit of white cloth held up with poles and string !!

Well at least I have my three DVD's of them (the real Floyd), two are live shows, and one is the Live at Pompeii show, so not really a concert, as such, but good anyway, as they were all just kids then.

I'm down just south of Stonehaven, so a fair distance from you.

Saw the R30 show at the SECC as well. One of the best I've ever seen, not just the musicianship but the videos, etc as well.

Nice one Gus, Stonehaven is not that far really ... have some good pics of Glasgow Rush R30 2004 show if you are interested ... sure do hope they tour again.
