Hi Harv, can't help with the decal question sorry. I checked Dennis's thread and read what Edgar had to say on th HB kits. From what I gleaned it is pretty good in many respects but there are one or two things that are a bit..."quirky" apparently. Most notably the ribbed horizontal tails.

Are you going to fix any issues like that or just go right ahead and build this sucker?

Cheers.

Thanks. Have the stabs ordered. I do believe there is a glitch with the windshield, we'll see....... I may try to fix things if its not to big a deal. From what I've seen, it should be pretty straight forward.....Harv

I believe the windshield issue in the trop kit is that the Vb trops had the windshield with the internal armor glass, whereas the kit only has the windscreen with the external armor glass.

IIRC, there is an AM replacement section for the windscreen. I think I have one somewhere. I will see if I can find it in my AM pile. Could take awhile. :hmmm:‚Äč

The windscreen is the big sticking point for the V trop, it is correct for the earlier Vb's but not the trop, I am going to try to fit a Hasegawa V windscreen to mine. I have seen someone on here use a Tamiya Mk IX windscreen but that seems way too expensive to me, HPH did a detail set for the kit but it was way too expensive to buy just for the windscreen and they do not appear to have any in stock.

Here is a very detailed review of the kit with Edgar's input

UMM-USA has the HPH set with the windscreen in stock. Alternately, you can try calling Tamiya USA and see if you can buy the clear parts sprue from one of their spitfire kits.

Harv, my set is the HpH set.
For 24 Euros you get a complete new clear resin canopy, resin filler piece so canopy fits correctly, a new cockpit door with separate crowbar, flaps, new horizontal stabilizers, solid wheel covers. You also get outside and inside masks for the canopy.
But, I saw on HpH website they had none in stock.

Ray, Dave mentioned that UMM has it in stock so I'll take a look. It is pricey though and more than I would like to spend. But thanks for the info....Harv

You might check with HpH to see how long it would take to get one from them, and what shipping would be; they are quite a bit cheaper than UMM.

Good luck with the windscreen mod Harv. Re-shaping the armoured glass to fit inside feels like it might be alot of work buddy.....
