I e-mail Mirek and he wrote back saying that they aren't going to produce any F7F-3N Tigercat. :crying:

Well, Im not 100% sure how the rear cockpit would be handled, but I DO have the Combat vac F7F-3N, and it appears the nose wouldn't be that difficult to fashion.  I dont believe there are any differences in overall fuselage length between the F7F-3 and the N.

The drone controller version of the Tigercat is my favorite and the most colorful. (The fire control bomber is second.) I have the references for the second cockpit and the target drones. IIRC the second canopy is the same as or close to a Bearcat. Now I just need to grow the kohunnas needed to hack into a $250.00 plus kit. It would be a very impressive model.

The combat kit Brian is talking about had some several versions included in the kit, like early and late tail version, an extra nose without the radar extension, but the basic fuselage presented in the kit was the 3N version.

I didn't want to build that one, so i cut off the radarnose, but assembled it lateron with lots of epoxy as a separate feature (so anyone interested in that one??)

Having another look at my photos of Reno Air Races from 2005, I found a good shot from the side of "Big Boss Man". The nose looks a lot like the plain -3 version, but there is a rear cockpit or at least a place for a passenger. Is that racing plane a conversion of a -3 instead of a -3N?

This kit might work a lot better than I expected... nice.

Yep, the -3N has a radar operators cockpit in the back, the longer nose to accommodate the radar itself, with no real changes to the length of the fuse.

As you can see from the drawings, the Ns tail is basically the same with 1 small subtle panel line at the top center difference.

BBM was (she was sold off from the September pops group, to a private owner who turned her back into a standard military USN DSB scheme) an F7F-3P model with the radar station itself in tact, and the radar equipment in it removed.

The 3P, was basically an "N" nightfighter without the radar nose.
