Guest Smitty44
US F/A-18E Superhornet just took down a Syrian Su-22 that was bombing coalition forces. Could it be the first air to air victory for the Superbug? Edited June 18, 2017 by Smitty44 Out2gtcha

Guest Smitty44
Well, that means Sukhoi might want to think about firing up the production line again.... Didn't the Turks splash a Russian Su-22 last year? Yup. I have to say I wish some would fire up a production line with some injection molded SU-22's! Last US air to air kill was 1999 during the Kosovo conflict F-16C over MIG-29 Edited June 19, 2017 by Smitty44

Dave Williams
Meh. Lock on and fire a BVR missile against a target that likely was running away and had few defenses, even if it knew it was under attack. I guess this is what passes for air combat today. Magic Mike
I read on another site that the kill was made with an AIM-9X at less than a mile. http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/299412-super-hornet-shoots-down-syrian-su-22/&page=2 About halfway down the page. alaninaustria
The bigger question is what happens in the World if someone splashes a US bird? Cheers Alan Troy Molitor

Ironwing
All I'm reticent to comment..but this needs to stop. Not the thread; I speak of humanity's seeming need to destroy itself over competing ideologies. When everyone is dead, what does it matter who won? Our sons/daughters pay the bill as does our future. Insanity..... Geoff Magic Mike
vince14
At least fighting over ideologies prevents us from fighting over women...
Martinnfb
Without women there would be ideologies. The reason?, nobody to impress Edited June 21, 2017 by Martinnfb
