My cell phone died yesterday.Luckily I had insurance on it. Had it for 4 yrs. I got the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. Really, thats what it is called. One minute it was fine, the next the screen turned blue and died.I should get my replacement Monday or Tuesday then take it back and the kid at the AT&T store will switch it over for me. You just don't realize how much you depend on them till you don't have it !..........Harv :BANGHEAD2:

Thats known in computer circles as the BSOD (said B-Sod). The black screen is just "bricked".

That would be 'SCREEN', not 'SCEEN'.  Just sayin'.  My wife would say I don't depend upon my phone enough!

Sincerely,

Mark

It's called kernal panic in Mac OS and Unix/Linux systems. Android is based on the Linux kernal. They serve the same purpose in each OS, which is to stop the system and dump some diagnostic text when it hits a fatal processing error. This is usually associated with device drivers.

My last phone "bricked" itself after only 9 months of use. I had the insurance on it so when I filed my claim, they tolde it was OOP and couldn't get a replacement from them. When I asked what that meant, their reply was they would send me a cheque for the full retail value and I could get whatever I wanted.

I got a cheaper phone and pocketed the difference. "thumbsup"

Other than not supporting your phone's ecosystem by upgrading with every iteration, traitor!

I've not had a problem with any of my phones beyond screen crackages.

I don't think I have Android. It's a 3g flip phone, I can't see any reason to be paying a big monthly phone bill for all that data and other stuff I can do when I get home on my computer. Never had any major issues calling or texting.... :)

I do it the other way around: when I get home I connect the pc to my phone and get internet that way.
