Beautiful work as always, Miloslav! I don't believe Corsairs ever had the main wheels bays finished in exposed primer, however. As far as I'm aware, the primer was covered with the underside colour.

I must paint according the references:

F4U-1 BuAer 02449 Paint

Standard 2 tone paint scheme used in early 1943. 

Top non-specular Blue-Grey(no ANA ever assigned).

Bottom Non-specular Light Gray ANA602

Center section wing fold area Light Gray. 

Inside oil cooler area Light Gray

Fuselage Side number and number on front of gear door. Not sure yet. Will be either 49 or 449

Firewall and all items firewall forward -Salmon

Prop blades Non-Specular black. Prop dome Semi-polished.

Cockpit -Interior Green ANA611 or FS34151. 

Instrument panel, control panels and glare shield Non-specular black.

Radio compartment Salmon

Interior structure thru out airframe -Salmon

Inside Nose bowl forward of cylinders. Same color as outside of same area. 

Inside engine accessory panels salmon. 

Inside engine cowl Flaps same as outside. 

Outer wings non-specular Blue-Grey top and bottom. Wing fold area on outer wing panels the same on outer wing, BlueGray. 

Gun bays-Salmon. 

Landing gear -metallic  silver

Inside (back of) main gear doors - gray. 

Main gear wheelwells above hinge -Salmon.

Tailwheel parts-Gray

Inside tailwheel doors -gray

Inside tailwheel area above hinge line -Salmon

Insignias Blue circle, white star. On both wings both top and bottom.

NO bars.

That's what he sent me, the owner of this plane, Chuck Wahl.
It is now being restored. Colors are based on what they found on the plane.

 The model I built for him.

 

 

Thanks, Miloslav. I'm still not convinced that the wheel bays would be in exposed primer, but I can't fault you for doing it the way you did, based on the instructions you were given. It's still an excellent model!
