Beaufighter Mk 1 from Revell *Completed*

Well since Kev has put me to work again looking after this group build, I really should contribute. I picked this kit up earlier in the year for 25 bucks at a swap meet on a whim because the price was pretty good.

I was thinking of doing an RAAF MK 1C Beaufighter, I don't think there is much difference between the C and the F. It will be pretty much straight from the box, I don't tend to do a lot in the way of detailing for older models as you often end up spending more on aftermarket than the model initially cost. It looks decent enough in the box, so hopefully it doesn't present too many build issues.

I haven't felt like breaking out the airbrush, so more cutting and gluing. Engines, props, air intakes, tail planes and the wing center section are together. All but the center section will require some minor clean up, I can already see there will be some gap filling when the outer wings go on.

A little bit of green to spice things up. If you've ever seen inside a Beaufighter, you know how laughably inaccurate this kit is. I have no idea where they got their information for this kit, but take it from me, there are no bulkheads inside the fuselage. That doesn't make it any easier to get into though, as you have to crawl over the gun bay to get to the cockpit.

A little interior detailing. I picked out some of the instruments in black and used a wash and some dry brushing. Some decals were also used, I also glued the tail wheel together, which will be a bit of a pain to paint so I might do that before sticking it in the fuselage. I also cut off some of the locating tabs for the rear cockpit, which makes it fit better along with modifying the main cockpit tabs so I can install it after I glue the fuselage together.
