Slow handclap for Revell ... 10 points (heavy sarcasm) for originality ... competing with Tamiya.

Rog :)

I'm not sure a $27 kit is competing with a $90 kit?

Plenty of people who can't afford a Tamiya Spitfire, or can only get one, who would jump at the chance of getting one, or 3 for the same money with change.

They are also listing an Academy F-16D block 60 for one or two years. I dont know if it's still there but there was also the Kinetic Mirage IIIE...

They still are, and the AFV/Academy F-16D Block 52 has been out for a while - two left

I believe Revell has announced its first quarter releases and the Spitty Mk.IX is part of that (?) The Mk.IX is far better looking than the Mk.II but I'd really lve a new Griffon variant.

Not everybody is willing to pay Tamiya prices, a Mk. XIc in the price range of their 109s would suit me fine.

Ok guys ... so my voiced frustration was a little over the top. I'll try (and probably fail) to keep it in check.

Granted ... $27 is a decent price ... and constitutes bang for buck - if it actually stays as advertised.

But given the accuracy issues of their recent Mk.IIa, I'm not overly optimistic.

Can't help but think that a Mk.Vb might have been a better pick (given the lower wing and assembly from the Mk.II was already there anyway), since the Hobby Boss kit (also expensive in a lot of places), while serviceable, isn't too flash and the Tamiya Mk.IXc is really quite something!

It may also be that while a Revell may not produce the uber-kit that Tamiya does, one could purchase three, and still do a great build, and display them in the schemes of their choice, and 90% of the people that look at them will say:" OHHH, nice work". and shift their focus.  Granted basic shape is an issue for many, so there is a balance one will have to choose.

AND.... let's not forget there is also the first Mk IX, the PCM kit.

I would rather them correct the mistakes in the MkII kit and release a Mk1.

Me too ... although the Vb would also be a decent earner.

I get frustrated with Revells more recent announcements ... Partly because not one of them is the Do.17z and also because they are releasing products that have already been covered - and not too badly. - or at least with little improvement or their own errors.

I'm amazed people mention the Hobbyboss kit in the same breath as ANY other 32nd Spitfire kit! The Revell kit is VERY easy to sort out whereas the HB one is completely the wrong shape from stem to stern.

I'd rather see a Griffon Spitfire for sure but if Revell want to do a IX that's fine with me!

What's the best way of sorting out the "belly" that the Revell Spit Mk II has? I haven't started mine yet, but the contours of the underside look all wrong, like it's put on a bit of weight! Everything else is a doddle with the Barracuda bits and bobs.

IXc? I would have preferred a Griffon variant to be honest.

Best regards;
Steve
